And as any sane writer will tell you, this is for the best; to be wholly responsible for how others react to your text is a very effective impetus to never produce another one. But what this sentiment means at its core is not that the author’s intention does not matter; rather, that a text and the society that receives it are in dialogue. To incorporate one’s environment, life, and experiences is fundamental to the task of telling a story, to which readers then respond. Whether or not it makes for interesting art—this is a task an LLM is simply unable to perform.

i naturally read about a book or two per week on average, though that number has been declining year over year since i started translating. 2025 was my first full year as a full-time translator, and I'm on track to have "only" read 44-45 books by EOY. this is still a good achievement!

Basically when you ask me "Does this idea have legs?" the answer is:
- Probably!
- If not we can fix it
- If they're wonky we can fix that too

1. sit down to my writing daily, for any amount of time
2. read at least 10 pages daily, of anything
3. walk daily
4. journal daily (based on julia cameron's morning pages)
