Walz needs to respond to the Bondi letter publicly and forcefully, using words along the lines of 'lying', 'extortionary', 'illegal' and 'self-incriminating'.

Bondi is the appointed and confirmed Attorney General. That means the official policy of the US DOJ is to use militarized law enforcement to harass, arrest, kidnap, and kill innocent civilians in an effort to force a state government to comply with federal policy demands.
Pam Bondi's conditions for Minnesota: 1) give us all your state data on your food programs, including SNAP 2) repeal all your sanctuary policies in the state (since it has led to "so much crime and violence") and 3) hand over your state voting rolls. Letter here: www.fox9.com/news/minneap...

Abolish ICE.
Hundreds of people gather for a vigil at the site where 37-year-old Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse and member of AFGE 3669, was shot and killed by federal agents.

Good thread.
leftists love to throw "nonviolence won't protect you!!" at liberals. but they misunderstand. nonviolence isn't about protecting yourself. nonviolence doesn't mean nonconfrontational.

nonviolence. is. about. winning.

Yup. In fact I don't think anywhere in the Anglosphere has had to deal with this kind of hard internal break between the political and the epistemic in centuries.
Thinking a lot right now about this crisis of trust. It’s a new world for Americans to not be able to trust what their government tells them.

Not to say that the government has never lied or misled the public before. Obviously it has.

But this is a new, Soviet-style level of lies and fabrication
We don’t even have to speculate. The bare facts are that you cannot and should not trust anything coming from ICE, CBP, DHS, or this administration in general.

They are not reliable. And they don’t have our interests at heart.

A first goal can be to create and solidify Democratic unanimity on Abolish ICE (and CPB). Then move on to pressuring Republicans to break ranks, and expand the demands to abolishing DHS entirely. Absolutely no compromise votes on the budget.

This notion that we need to know intent or state of mind to ascribe honesty or dishonesty is extremely problematic. We can't ever really know those things about others! But we can ascribe dishonesty and honesty given enough other evidence. (And in Trump’s case he of course lies like he breaths.)

Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

This is a white supremacist paramilitary operation. Their goal—their stated goal!—is to force America to submit to the President's racist domineering vision for the country.

The sooner everybody starts confronting it on the terms that they themselves have stated, the better.

What authority does ICE have to arrest or detain citizens who witnessed a homicide?
Per this report ICE has detained several witnesses
ICE attempted to order local police from the scene of the Minneapolis shooting, but the police chief refused and instructed his officers to preserve the crime scene.

💯

Fine tuning your message is not important but I encourage you to be clear you want them to vote no on any bill with *any* ICE funding at all.
We are calling our senators right now and demanding that they vote no on the omnibus with DHS funding

We are explicitly mentioning ICE’s murder in cold blood of a man on the streets of Minneapolis this morning

I think that’s because the Times sees its role in society as smugly lecturing liberals about why the right is correct and/or going to win, in the eternal liberal game of trying to feel smarter and more in touch with “real people” than the next liberal, of which it is the all-time world champion.

Guys, ICE is attacking and harassing ANYONE WHO IS NOT WHITE, HAS A FOREIGN-SOUNDING NAME, OR HAS AN ACCENT. When they jump out and grab you, and carry you off screaming, it doesn’t matter if you’re a citizen or not! They’re not asking! I’ve seen it happen multiple times with my own eyes.
Does that mean these schools were upwards of 70% composed of undocumented families?

Once again a great succint summation of MAGA as a whole.
this guy is a terrible liar who genuinely believes he is great at lying
CNN put together a clip of JD Vance claiming ICE agents have "absolute immunity" followed by him two weeks later claiming "I didn't say that officers who engage in wrongdoing would enjoy immunity"

Electrification skeptics often argue that switching from gas to heat pumps doesn’t make sense when most of our power comes from fossil fuels anyway.

@urbangreencouncil.bsky.social ran the numbers and found that heat pumps almost always do cut pollution, even in heavily gas-reliant NYC.
