Got these almost 28 yrs ago on our honeymoon. They are the Virgin Mary and St Michael made of lace. The frames were looking a bit worse for wear, so my spouse found new frames and I found a new background paper. Matches our family room colors quite nicely

You don't need AI or expensive supplies or even classes to make art. All you need is the willingness to practice, a desire to create, and a mountain of unaddressed childhood trauma.

Just finished @ravineangel.bsky.social’s Persona. An extremely rough read that I’m glad I stuck with because once it gets its hooks in you there is this amazing tenderness to it you wouldn’t believe. Challenging, but an immensely worthy reminder that in spite of everything, we have to keep living.

The scheme to replace underpaid gig drivers in America with even more severely underpaid gig drivers in even poorer countries is bad.

Americans should drive themselves or pay someone a living wage.

Disabled Americans should have access to taxpayer funded services that pay drivers a living wage.

Not going to repost that shill insisting that anti-AI artists are "gatekeeping" art and that it's unfair that some people are simply too poor or untalented to learn how to draw without AI.

But I do want to talk about my cousin. 🧵

'Please check your email for further information,' they say but only sent one for the erotica.

Here's hoping I get an email by Monday to explain why, barring my novel and one novella, *all of my books* were blocked from Bookshop(.org).

I have thirteen titles, ten of which *aren't* erotica.

Writing this story made me happy in a dark time.

I talked to half a dozen people who started queer bookstores in their communities, and what I heard gave me hope.

These aren't just bookstores — they're a lifeline for people who have no place else to go.
Queer bookstores died in 2010. We had a funeral and everything!

Except... a ton of people decided to roll up their sleeves and start *new* queer bookshops, all over the place. In cities. In tiny towns.

Look, a lot of folks have already put it better than me, but - AI sucks. It's not "democratizing" art, it's just further hoarding resources to enrich the horrible, child-molesting few

Some needs to look up how much Amy Klobuchar has invested in the for profit prisons industry.
She sits on the Border Security and Immigration subcommittee and has nothing to say about the current ICE situation.

It's got to be money, not her own personal cruelty right? Right? Oh.

Reminds me of when I started publishing in the late 80s/early 90s and certain publications would have a rights grab like this printed *on the back of the check* (which was sent AFTER publication, with author copy).

I wrote "for desposit only" to avoid endorsing the check and signing.
Venerable magazine Harper's Bazaar is running its short story contest again, with the winner receiving "the chance" of publication in the magazine. Just one catch: per the wording of the guidelines, _just by entering_ you transfer copyright ownership of your story to Harper's parent, Hearst. 1/3

The pattern for the red Melt the ICE hats has now raised $650,000 for immigrant aid groups in Minneapolis, according to the local yarn store that designed it. www.instagram.com/p/DUYSbKskVL...
Staff at a Twin Cities yarn store put together a pattern for a red knit “Melt the ICE” hat inspired by the Norwegian resistance.

They thought they would attract 10 people to a weekly knit-along.

They’ve sold 70,000 copies, raising more than $250k for immigrant aid groups.
