It’s not overly complex Mr Merz: You can’t kidnap a foreign leader just because you don’t like him. Article 2/4 UN Charter protects all states and thus their governments, even if they’re led by assholes.

I can't believe I have to say this, but the US has not become anything different with this attack. This is what the US has been doing FOREVER. Even in Latin America. Trump just is one that actually says it straight and shamelessly.

No real sanctions against Russia, no sanction at all against Israel.
Of course every single little dictator will invade whatever they want too, what is there to lose for them ? It's a free buffet at this point. US won't pay either for what they're doing so they won't be the last crossing the line.

People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesn’t matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they aren’t! End of convo.

Because international media largely seems to struggle to choose the correct wording to describe what’s happening: the US, under the self describes „peace president“, attacked another country and kidnapped its president. That is factual, no matter how bad or illegitimate Maduro‘s rule is (very bad).
