I also have to add a photo of my latest asado, more specifically, an 🇦🇷 matambre salted with lava salt coming from Island. A gift from @theresahenke.bsky.social in Germany, that came all the way to Mendoza 🥰

Submitted with 15 minutes to spare, but not before one last mysterious error nearly gave me a heart attack. Now: Halloween pizza with my kids. Tomorrow: deadline #2. Academia’s version of trick or treat. 🎃🍕📑

Our office puzzle is coming together ❤️. Also, my office mate got one paper accepted, and I got my grant extended. All in all, a good week 🙌

My grant was extended for another year! I'm so happy to stay in the wonderful Interactio Lab led by @dpvazquez.bsky.social for another year. It's a real privilege to keep working in Argentina with such an inspiring group of people. 💚

Btw this is what I see on my office's doorstep 😍

Seriously, wtf is this??

I repeat: I'm not American, nor do I live in this US, but I'm still getting this propaganda on my feed.

Invasive alien plants are a major cause of biodiversity loss. Their removal is often seen as the first step toward restoration, but recovery doesn’t always follow. 🌿 At #RAE2025 I presented our work on understanding legacy effects left behind even after invaders are gone.

We look to answers the questions: What are our values? Are these values guiding us in our everyday work? Can they help us deal with the many planetary crises we are facing?

We then also compared these values with those we came about in our Conguillío statement (see QR)
October 15, 2025 at 7:54 PM
During the round table we organized with Gisela Stolz (Universidad Andrés Bello) and Monica Ortiz (Universidad de Concepción) at #RAE2025 we discussed building an ecological practice grounded in values and responsibilities.

Of course among the challenges the most mentioned ones were money (described in different ways in the figure: dinero, presupuesto, financiamento), but also communication across researchers, institutions, and disciplines. Most thought that we researchers are doing a good job, but could do better.
October 14, 2025 at 8:33 PM
We had a very successful discussion table at #RAE2025, on the challenges and opportunities of managing invasive plants (and not only). With representatives from Argentina (Priscila Powell), Chile (Rafael Garcia), and Uruguay (Carolina Toranza). Silvia Ziller also sharing her experience online.
