I didn't know this. One reason the loss of ACA Marketplace subsidies is hurting people so badly, after the Democrats caved, is that the Biden administration had overseen a massive push of poor people off of Medicaid and into the Marketplace.
Democrats caving on health care is worse than you think

Reinstate Goran NOW. Literally the only thing he's ever used his platform for is posting cool art and fundraising for people trying to survive a genocide.

It’s not enough that Gazans have been stripped of their land, their homes, and a lifetime of hard work even education has been taken from them.
Education was the one thing Gazans held on to the most; our parents sold everything they owned so we could learn.

The tent is wonderful, a testament to people's generosity, but I really want them all in winter clothes 😔
Via Spiderdepot

Happy update☺️

Nour & Wateen are in their new tent, that Ahmad was able to buy with your help, particularly a generous $1000 donation❤️

Their old tent flooded, but the new tent (+Ahmad’s handiwork) kept them safe in the rains

Your support means the world to them🌍

Los Angeles ➡️ Chicago ➡️ Charlotte ➡️ New Orleans ➡️ ???

As ICE and Border Patrol invade more American cities, local communities are sharing tips about how to respond and defend their rights.

FPF's @seth-stern.bsky.social and @adamrose.bsky.social offer perspective:
As Charlotte immigration enforcement fears linger, activists from Chicago offer advice
As federal immigration enforcement departs Charlotte, organizers and advocates share lessons they’ve learned from Chicago’s immigration raids — lessons that could inform responses to future crackdowns...

Hey so just fyi, if you're abandoning trans rights you're abandoning all civil rights

At that point what the fuck is the point of the democracy you're willing to sacrifice trans people for

This actually isn't hard at all, quit making it pretend hard because you finally feel scared too

Really fascinating blog post about the plants that Neanderthals cooked and ate (the real "paleo diet" included a lot of grains, pulses, and other plants!).
Coming together to eat the food we share has been part of humanity from the very beginning. I wrote this post after a Thanksgiving week lecture on evidence for Neanderthals and other ancient people making prepared mixtures of grains, lentils, and other foods.

I seriously just unfollowed someone for saying Rogue One was a bad movie.

NOPE. It is THE BEST Star Wars movie that then gave birth to the BEST THING to ever come from the Star Wars universe, Andor.

It’s like we are dinosaurs listening to the advice of an incoming asteroid.
Not clear to me whether these rules are designed by the fossil fuel industry, tech industry, Russia/Saudi Arabia, "Abundance" centrists, DC consultants, or virtually all Republicans & far too many Democrats.

But they are this moment's conventional wisdom.

And they are a doomed, reckless farce.
1. Do not speak of climate change.

2. Do not antagonize fossil fuels. Embrace fossil fuels via "all of the above" & "technology neutral."

3. Fixate on energy & economics to exclusion of ecology & equity.

4. Speak often of reducing costs. Sometimes emissions.

5. Hobble bedrock environmental laws.

it's wild to think that about one CEO ago ago, people were looking at Google and Apple as brands they wore in their personal lives as badges of honour and in the space of less time than it takes a cicada to mature the consensus is now that they are the enemy of public safety
it is absolutely the tech companies fault that people now assume they’re doing something evil and sneaky even when they actually aren’t (regarding the latest Google kerfuffle)

like, no kidding that people have zero willingness to cut big tech the benefit of the doubt anymore
