Star Trek The Next Generation scene. I don't have enough healthcare for eye-rolling related injuries related to headlines that are like "In *shocking* news, sabotaging the economy turns out to be really bad for the *economy* if you catch our drift, lads."

It would really help if journalists would stop pretending to be gullible.

Normally, I wait for the union to weigh in. Until they ( @condeunion.bsky.social ) say otherwise, I'm boycotting all Condé Nast publications. That includes Teen Vogue, Vogue, Ars Technica, Wired, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Pitchfork, Glamour, and GQ among others.

Fascism purges and destroys in the name of purity; liberalism arrives as the hero to “restore order” - solidifying and facilitating power back to capital and paving the way for the techno-oligarch future. Together they maintain the same architecture of control - the very same hierarchy of whose lives are livable, whose deaths are acceptable, and whose futures are imaginable. The system was never built to serve us. It was built to preserve itself. So when I say I’ve lost faith in it, this is what I mean. No future can bloom inside its walls - only an endless, decaying present. The only path forward is to imagine beyond them, to see past the horizon of the flag, past the language of empire, past the myth of order itself. They are bound—both in their minds and in the lines they draw on maps. By their borders. We are not. We live on a horizon they cannot even imagine. Ezra Klein ends his op-ed with the line, “we are all safe or none of us are.” But trans women murdered in silence have never been safe. Immigrants who are snatched off the streets in the name of “order” have never been safe. Palestinians erased in the name of “peace” have never been safe. Safety for whom? The truth is not “we are all safe or none of us are.” The truth is: we are all liberated, or none of us are.
