My online-ness isn't quite terminal yet, but by god it's getting there. Apparently being against fascism is terrorism now, so yay tyranny!
There is literally no way we're hanging on for more than a couple weeks, but for now, LET'S FUCKING GO BABY

I was surprised i hadn't seen anyone isolate this yet, I think the actual disgusting thing here is that none of the other journalists there stick up for her or ask her question again or anything else. They act like it didn't even happen.
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

Gotta say, very on-brand for Harvard to stand by a professor who's been publicly revealed to have discussed his methods for preying on his students with Jeffrey Epstein.

A knock-on effect of Trump suddenly looking weak is people feel emboldened to push back against his flunkies too. Turns out the media knows exactly how to do this when they want to
KARL: The president claims that Thanksgiving costs are down 25%. Does he know that's not true?

HASSETT: Well if you look at Walmart--

KARL: Wait a minute. I've gotta stop you. The Walmart package this year contains much less than the one last year. That's why the price is less.

I love how the news is like "the Left needs to learn how to reach out to young men's issues" and the young men issues are that they can't get laid and aren't making enough money with online gambling.

If and when dems ever regain power don't let yourself get excited and start thinking they will do a single thing about any of these people. They will walk free, rich, and happy until the day they die like Dick Cheney

this take gets annoying as a southerner. you should not give up on the south, but no, it is not red because of voter suppression or a lack of funding for dems. doug jones raised shitloads of money and lost. it is red because the overwhelming majority are extremely racist white conservatives
I understand why a lot of white liberals are like, fuck the south, because they think about the people in power who are mostly white conservatives. But that is only because of Jim Crow, voter suppression, a lack of real funding for Dems there

There seems to be a whole set of people in New York finance, ivy league schools, prestigious newspapers, and partisan politics who all play footsie with each other. This all puts metoo and title IX in a new context, huh? The ruling class were closing ranks to protect their exclusive little club.
Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

I think the bet is "even if the Democrats ever win/we hold free & fair elections ever again, they'll be too chickenshit to do anything about it." Which, given the evidence, is not a terrible bet.

What I think New York Times staff need to understand is that when you go in public, identify yourself as one of their employees, and defend the paper's actions, people are going to see you as a representative of the whole organization.

Clearly us unwashed, mouth-breathing barbarians are too stupid to recognize when a news room makes a sketchy decision. Let's wait for the silver spoon, nepo-baby Ivy Leaguers who staff the NYT to tell us what to think.

It isn't like they've shown their ass publicly and repeatedly these past years.
"I'm a rando who prefers to believe that everything is a conspiracy and am happy to tell women that I know better than she does how their literal job works" That a news org makes an editorial decision you wouldn't (or I wouldn't) doesn't mean someone is killing a story on behalf of a powerful person
"I write for the New York Times, and I can assure you that we've never buried stories on behalf of powerful people, many of those powerful people being part of NYT management. We only publish what's fit to print, like Zohran's application to Columbia that was leaked by a white nationalist"
