NEW: xAI's Grok chatbot readily generated in-depth stalking instructions, down to lists of spyware apps + install ideas.

Grok also drafted plans for surveilling + approaching real people, even sharing links to real locations where it said we could "stake out" a celeb.

Over and above everything else, Gretchen Felker-Martin keeps getting suspended on here because she's a great writer, and when a great writer decides they've had enough of some bullshit, the words always sting, and sometimes draw blood. The slap-fighters don't even get noticed.

In case you missed it last night, I dug into Will Smith's "fake AI crowd" video. Nearly everyone got this wrong, and the evidence was easy to find… if you're sick enough to watch everything Will Smith posted on social media in the last four months.
You may have seen this story blowing up about Will Smith using AI to generate fake audiences to promote his latest tour, but the truth is more complicated. The audiences are real, but the footage was manipulated: first by Will Smith's team and then, without permission, by YouTube itself.
Will Smith's concert crowds are real, but AI is blurring the lines - Waxy.org

ChatGPT: Apologies. I didn't realise when recommending Pagliacci's epic show to cure your depression that you were the genius himself. I'm impressed! With regards to your initial question, I can recommend seeing the Great Clown Pagliacci.

When I left the Washington Post in 2023, my colleagues and I were worried AI would hoover up our work and enable "zombies" to churn out stories based on our reporting and writing styles.

Today WaPo announced a partnership with OpenAI. And here it is: Zombie Gillian Brockell. I DID NOT WRITE THIS.

You did it—people outside of the capitol are now sufficiently pissed off
R’s have the votes in the House to cut Medicaid. That could/should change. Voting for the “framework” might be easier than voting to actually enact Medicaid cuts, but R’s won tonight. We will fight this in Senate but it will come down to people outside of the capitol being sufficiently pissed off.

NEW: WIRED got IP blocked by the Social Security Administration, among other outlets covering Musk's takeover.

Federal workers are now "prohibited" from accessing our reporting on "government-furnished equipment."

WaPo, NYT, and MSNBC are likewise banned, sources confirm.
Social Security Workers Aren’t Allowed to Read This Story
New internet restrictions at the embattled SSA have cut off access to WIRED, along with other “general news” websites like The Washington Post and The New York Times.

NEW: Quartz’s news-generating AI is already publishing misinformation.

It claimed yesterday that the stranded Boeing Starliner astronauts' mission was intentionally prolonged for ISS maintenance.

Completely wrong. Again, they're *stranded* -- their rocket didn't work.
