Seattle's Mamdani is winning by an absurdly small margin over our incumbent mayor, who once pulled a gun on a pregnant woman in a parking lot.

Look if you know a better way of powering a Time Machine than killing babies id like to see it.
not withstanding the wider social forces of course but I always think "why baby Hitler? WWI Soldier Hitler where a stray bullet from enemy lines randomly blowing his skull out would be far easier and less of a moral dilemma than murdering a baby"
this is why they don't invite me to parties

I'll get back to "party unity" as soon as the Senate Minority Leader tells us if he voted for the Democratic party nominee for mayor of his city.
I'm tired of party unity only ever running one way.

You can’t make a living just making book anymore. Thanks Trump.
I do think sports betting should be legal, but you should have to place bets in person with someone you are afraid will physically harm you if you don't pay up.

i also dont think any piece of the epstein files will end or undo the Trump regime. You could have a notarized letter Trump wrote to Epstein about how much he loves being a pedophile but that doesnt mean the work to undo all of this would end there or even that hed lose any power he already has.
I’m sorry but these “finally, the Epstein files vote” libs are completely fucking insane. It’s going to die in the Senate ten seconds after the House vote and they think it’s somehow going to weigh on voters’ minds more than Dems agreeing to destroy their own healthcare plan.

Gonna say I didn’t vote for Kamala because she wasn’t going to do enough to protect ACA tax credits and drive liberals insane.

Our calls & outrage are working! Sen Kaine, Rosen, Shaneen & Hassan said if they hear from more of their constituents, they could change their votes from a yes to a no. Rs may not be voting for this bill also, so call your R senators too. Keep the phone calls coming bc it’s working! 202-224-3121

This is it. You have to walk form the table. You have to each them you can do this.
Not that he didn’t already know, but now Trump knows for sure he can roll the Dems every time and there’s no need to negotiate for anything

Any one Senate Democrat can still delay the procedural votes necessary to get this cave-in formally written into law. Which one will it be?
Already hearing at least one nominal opposing Democrat - Hickenlooper - saying his no vote is merely performative, he understands why Dems capitulated.

In theory this deal is days away from getting out of the senate unless they all agree to unanimous consent.
So this isn't over yet.
Just don't send the senators any fucking thank yous for standing strong if you are calling them. My god.

So I have to negotiate with car insurance companies every day and often they put up shitty deals. And it sucks because my clients are suffering with unpaid bills while all this is going on. So I sympathize with Dems on having to negotiate with people who won’t deal in good faith. But you still fight

One reason it’s important for Democrats to have a positive vision of the future is if they don’t, when they get pushed like this and are faced with the present challenge of people suffering when no deal is met, they’ll cave because they don’t know what they’re fighting for.

What if I throw away all my leverage?
Reporter: What do you say to your colleagues who say this isn't a fight, this is a capitulation?
Shaheen: We have a guaranteed vote by a guaranteed date…
Reporter: There is no guarantee that this will become law.
Shaheen: There was never a guarantee that it would be become law.

They clearly picked people who aren't up next year. They do this all the time. It's never just the defectors who are to blame, because they're all in on it together
so currently defectors are:
Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
