Excellent response to @npr.org’s terrible coverage of traffic violence
"A distracted pedestrian might cause a minor inconvenience. A distracted driver, enabled by street design that encourages high speeds, can end a life. To treat these as equivalent is to ignore the fundamental physics of power and force." -Lanrick Bennett

what I love about e-bikes and the world of small electric mobility is that it is a full scale transportation revolution no one saw coming but that nonetheless has the power to address air pollution death & illness, climate change, traffic violence, affordability, and also social isolation & anxiety

Food delivery was a convenience, until it became a lifestyle. Now America is a nation of order-inners—and it’s destroying restaurants as we once knew them, @elcush.bsky.social argues: https://theatln.tc/SghPaI1R

One of the most common locations for fatal motor vehicle-bicyclist crashes is at intersections, which inherently have a large number of turning conflicts. Reducing these conflicts is a key objective in improving intersection safety across all modes.

DOTs & street depts can't prosecute drivers but they can redesign streets. So they blame drivers.

The law enforcement & justice system can't redesign streets but it can prosecute drivers. So it blames pedestrians & cyclists.

A vicious consensus of negligence & complicity.

Yesterday, Kansas City opened a $350M transit enhancement putting hundreds of thousands of Kansas Citians in walking distance to rail. We then broke ground on $350M in housing bringing 1100+ units of mixed income to the Eastside.

Cities get sh*t done.

Let’s keep it going, KC.

Another victim-blaming campaign from a state DOT instead of investing in safer infrastructure that slows down car drivers.
Hey Marylanders! Darker evenings don’t mean more danger on our roads. Just a little extra caution — bright clothes, headlights on — can make a huge difference.

Let’s keep each other safe. Be the difference!
