Thanks Dan.

St. Paul funded HOME Line at $25K from 2019-2022. Prior to that it was inconsistent, voluntary, Ward-specific $1K-$5K.

From 2023-2024 the city did not directly fund HOME Line (🤔 rent stabilization?) but did facilitate a $25K/year grant from St. Paul & MN Foundation.

Last I knew, St. Paul paid HOME Line about $25,000/yr. Meanwhile, St. Paul accounts for 14% of the hotline work, around 3k callers per year, behind only Minneapolis (25%). I promise it takes >$100k in resources to serve St. Paul. And yet DSI and council offices will just tell you to call HOME Line 🤷

Today I saw a billboard for Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity's ad campaign "Goodbye Rental. Hello, Home." Also on their website: home.tchabitat.org

Apparently if you rent your home, it's not actually a "home" in the eyes of TC Habitat. Absolutely disgusting framing coming from a housing nonprofit.

Will the Strib liveblog when people start losing housing subsidies and other benefits, or is that level of in-depth reporting only reserved for airport delays?

While the housing cost burden is easing overall, it’s not the case for lower-income renters, the authors write.

Duluth's so-called “Right to Repair” initiative would allow renters to pay for minor repairs and deduct the cost from their rent if landlords fail to respond. But some worry tenants could be left footing the bill. Voters decide Tuesday on Election Day.

This opinion that additional tenant rights are "a dangerous experiment" that could "harm tenants" is such a commonly repeated yet disgusting and patronizing attitude.

Why did Jacob Frey delete his electronic communications from the day that MPD collaborated with an ICE action on Lake St in Minneapolis?

What did he say? What did he learn? What did he direct?

Our public officials should not be destroying the official records of their actions.

CM LaTrisha Vetaw's answer to this question should disqualify her from public service. She is an embarrassment.

How the fuck does a current City Council member either not have access to the information needed, or not have adequate critical thinking skills to provide an answer to this question?

The council member is totally right. If the downtown council, Mayor Frey and his allies don’t condemn this anti-Minneapolis propaganda, they’re teeing up Republicans to run statewide on this garbage next year. They’re willing to risk a GOP governor or leg to make sure their stooge remains mayor.
The moderates of this city really want to deliver a Republican legislature next year. And corporate democrats are giving them the lay up.

It won’t hurt progressives. But it will hurt the top of the ticket next year.
Former KARE-11 anchor Rick Kupchella won’t say who paid for the film that paints a dark picture of Minneapolis and progressive City Council members, who dispute policies the film ascribes to them.
