In 2026 we'll be pushing another bill similar to this, which in 2025 was close to inclusion in the housing omnibus bill. Thanks to folks who called/emailed their elected to ask that it stay in.

These estimated costs are all "keep the doors open" levels of funding. We could take on far more proactive roles if we were adequately funded.

We'll continue to demand more from cities, counties (Hennepin & Ramsey's CDBG funds are delayed due to HUD incompetence, so we currently get $0), & state.

Meanwhile, Minneapolis pays HOME Line $125K/year to advise 5,000+ households/year. It costs over $350K to serve the city.

We did ask Mayor Frey's office to include an increase in his 2026 budget proposal. I'm sure you all can guess what happened there.

Last year Mayor Carter included $100K for HOME Line in the city's 2025 budget, and we expect that to continue.

It obviously costs far more than that (& city was informed), but someone decided on $100K.

Thanks Dan.

St. Paul funded HOME Line at $25K from 2019-2022. Prior to that it was inconsistent, voluntary, Ward-specific $1K-$5K.

From 2023-2024 the city did not directly fund HOME Line (🤔 rent stabilization?) but did facilitate a $25K/year grant from St. Paul & MN Foundation.

I was there and wondered what the hell was going on—didn't realize the connection to him. Thanks for the info.

I'll continue to make my frustration known to his office and folks at the Capitol. Embarrassment to the DFL...he absolutely should not be Senate President.

Called his office back in the midst of it, and his staffer seemed surprised that someone would ask him to resign over it. Never received any response back.

And now, November:

On Monday 11/10/25 MPHA filed 42 evictions, and its affiliated entity Community Housing Resources filed 10 evictions.

Forgive me, I missed October's filings:

On 10/14/25 MPHA filed 39 evictions, and its affiliated entity Community Housing Resources filed 6 evictions.

TC Habitat spent $1,229,671 through 6/30/25 on "Marketing Services and Materials" according to their FY 2025 Unaudited Financials—and throwing renters under the bus is what they came up with.
