My partner & I have been working for a year on making a Minesweeper Roguelike and it's finally available to wishlist! We tried to design the game so that it’s both accessible to new Minesweeper players and appealing to those who want a challenge.

"It starts to feel like you and the game are fighting over every grid, both undermining the actual puzzle with every dirty trick you can."

So stoked that BroomSweeper has been featured in @pcgamer.com !!!
This Minesweeper roguelike is a chaotic corporate nightmare, and I love it
BroomSweeper turns an old classic into a surreal challenge that feels completely unsolvable, until you solve it.

being an indie bookseller in the helltimes has felt both very stable and very stabilizing, and part of me wishes everyone could be on my side of the counter for a little while, because I think it would help some of you be a little less cynical and doomy right now. so here is my VERY anecdotal data:

Today I lost an NIH grant training clinicians to do research about intimate partner violence with perinatal women.

More women are murdered in the perinatal period than die of obstetric complications.

I didn't just lose a grant. We lost an entire cohort of people building careers to prevent that.

If apartheid was wrong in South Africa, it is wrong in Israel. If ethnic cleansing was wrong in Bosnia, it is wrong in Palestine. If genocide was wrong in Rwanda, it is wrong in Gaza. There is no principled way to support human rights in one context while excusing their violation in another.

It is always interesting to me how people never seem to demand evidence that cruelty will be good for "the economy" but no matter how.many studies of kinder things like UBI or housing first we do those who talk about "the economy" refuse to believe they are beneficial.

I have shared this story, this thread, before - but I think given the state of the world, it's worth telling once again. Maybe it can help, especially if like me, you make art, and you wonder what the use of all of it is right now.

It will never not crack me up that Edge of Tomorrow (a movie I really like!) had THREE different titles at various points (All You Need is Kill, Edge of Tomorrow, Live. Die. Repeat.) and they went with the most boring one
"All You Need Is Kill", the new japanese animated feature by Studio 4°C.
Directed by Kenichiro Akimoto (Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko).
Based on the light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, which already inspired "Edge of Tomorrow" movie.

As someone who works in the space of archive, if this comes to pass it's a complete travesty. Looks like I'll be combing through to get as much as I can saved.

The amount of grace leaders from other countries are giving us is truly unreal, as well. They don't HAVE to say, "We like YOU Americans, just not YOU leaders." When have we, represented by our leaders, ever extended that level of grace to other countries' citizens?

I want kids; I don't know them yet. I don't know their race, their sex, their ability. I don't know who they are, who they'll love, who they'll grow into being.

And I want what's best for them.

So the only reasonable position is to make things as good as possible for as many people as possible.

This is absolutely horrific and yet again another in a long line of examples of the GOP engaging in eugenics of disabled and chronically ill people.
The Iowa GOP advanced a bill making it a misdemeanor for a healthcare provider to administer a Covid vaccine.

Even when a person has requested a Covid vaccine.
