I encourage writers to never disparage their earlier works. Are they as polished as your current ones? No. But in their totality, they're a map showing where you started and what you learned. YOU made that journey, be proud, celebrate it. (Bonus: it proves you're human, and not an AI word monkey.)
As a new writer your writing style 'lurks' in how you actually write (before AI and before outside editorial assistance). To develop your style of writing you must solve for the writing errors within your early style and come to understand why you favor certain choices.

I moved to Doraville in Atlanta yesterday with the cats, and Poe escaped before I got him in. Not looking for advice but if you're in the area please watch for him. He's all black with golden eyes, with an occlusion in the right eye. He's very shy. Lost on Winters Park Dr. @decaturish.bsky.social

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”

Spun up an Oracle Cloud instance for a wee tech project, and whew. Just. Yikes. One of the most unpleasant and anti-user systems I've ever seen and this is for a service they presumably want me to like and pay for.

I don't generally touch Oracle stuff but I'm going to be avoiding it even more.

i can’t remember anything that has felt more foisted upon us than AI. repeatedly telling us why we actually need is like thinking a joke will get funnier the more you explain it.

Looking for a UK-based user of screen reader assistive technology on Windows (eg JAWS or NVDA) for a short paid user study. No required tech knowledge or location, just that you're comfortable regularly using a screen reader for web browsing and have an existing set-up for it.

I’m petrified about today’s science news. Genetically modifying crabs to have cheetah genes? This could go sideways fast.

(summer game sale rec thread is what's up)

as always, i focus primarily on more obscure, older, and just plain weirder games, as big name titles don't need the help.

with that out of the way: onwards!

If he recruited you on Bluesky he's a Fed
If he's talking 'bout a bomb
Log off now and tell your mom

I have a theory that it is often better to not do criming, and that it is *always* better to not do criming and then put your criming on social media.

It's a theory I'm working on.
