If there’s one thing guaranteed to absolutely destroy my morning, it’s seeing that horrible robot security guard rolling down the public sidewalks of downtown Portland. An indignity, an eyesore, a big old piece of trash. Really gets my blood boiling!!!

👀 the attacks on Preschool for All are quickly becoming a national embarrassment:

Why Is Blue Oregon Trying to Kill Voter-Approved Free Preschool?
The social benefits of preschool extend far beyond the playground. Yet state officials are working on paring back a fledgling Multnomah County early-education program.

The complaint isn’t really about whether council has the authority to raise a tax, indeed the chamber lobbied for the tax increase that council authorized last year for Clean and Safe. It’s about control and income and wealth distribution, and the worry we may tax the rich to fund the many.

This is a weird flex and I think it should be obvious by now that this council doesn’t respond well to vague threats to its authority. This is the People’s Council and we know our home rule charter well. Does this extend also to council’s authority to raise rates for the Clean & Safe ESD?

Predictable that Portland Metro Chamber will bully the city in this manner. I'm not excited to say I agree with Novick that you can't go nuclear against them b/c they do have the resources to tank the parks measure, and b/c they are soulless enough to attempt to do so. www.wweek.com/news/city/20...

Made in Old Town is a grift! Already got $9M in PUBLIC money to subsidize this private startup, and now asking the state for $5M more when we are in a budget crisis

(The $9M includes $7M from Prosper Portland in an incredibly irresponsible loan…)

This is a struggle over who has control over public money in this city & it’s pretty astounding to see a supposedly public agency run a public relations campaign (full of omissions & misinformation) against the city council to protect its loan fund from from going from ~$50 million to ~$40 million.
It is WILD to watch a supposedly public agency spread disinformation to get a whole community worked up and protect their own bottom line.

Prosper Portland is sitting on a $50m slush fund that they did not earn and want Portland to cut parks maintenance and permitting staff.

Wild.

Yes, you should be asking why Portland is getting a $2 billion freeway expansion when it hasn’t expanded its light rail system in years, when federal assistance is drying up, when climate change is worsening, & when 60% of Oregon counties are facing budget cuts www.opb.org/article/2025...
