For everyone rooting for a shutdown, understand there is a $75B ICE and $65B CBP mandatory, multiyear funding package in place from last year's reconciliation bill. That means they both have enough $$$ to keep operating WITH pay throughout a shutdown. The more you know:

The financial crisis created by the ICE surge will not disappear immediately even if the ICE officers go away (which they have not yet).

Have you called your senators yet? The SAVE Act passed by the House is panicking every married woman I know. It should panic everyone!

The collection and maintenance of proofs of citizenship is far beyond the capacity of your local voting system. Be real: this is intended to prevent all elections.

Imagine being faced with a decision where you save some of an existing budget from the world's richest country but millions of people die, or you spend your budget as planned and people live.

And you choose to let people die.

What's wrong with these people?
As a direct result of the obscene actions of Russell Vought and Elon Musk in destroying USAID, we can expect “at least 9.4 million additional deaths by 2030, if the current funding trend continues.

About 2.5 million of those deaths are projected to be children under the age of 5.”

Who do you believe?
SLOTKIN: So the fact we have ICE agents saying out loud to people they're trying to arrest that 'we're gonna put you in a database,' they are making that up?

LYONS: We do not do that

This is cased as a business problem. It’s a journalism problem. The Post stopped doing real journalism under Trump 1, when we needed it most. Through omission an sane-washing, they helped legitimize the thing that would befall them—Trump. Return to real journalism, and we will return as consumers.

He literally says in this clip that ICE will keep in Minnesota “quick reaction forces” — a military term — to go after “agitators.” Remember that those on the ground in MPLS have spent more than a week trying to tell everyone that Trump’s prior “deescalation” was a ruse and ICE is still operational
Homan: "Operation Metro Surge is ending. In the next week, we're going to deploy the officers here on detail back to their home stations or to other areas of the country where they're needed."

Wouldn’t this make it harder to justify why 3.2 million U.S. citizens in Puerto Rico are still denied that right simply because of their location?

In November 2024, Puerto Rico held a non-binding referendum where 57% of voters chose statehood.

Immigration was never the worry. Look, Biden had a deal that was on the table by a bipartisan group of Senators. Trump called the Republicans and sabotaged it. It was never about Immigration. It was about racism. The plan was to get rid of brown people and move to the next group.
“.. what he’s doing now in our cities, pitting the military against our people, these are gestapo tactics,” said independent Brenda Shaw .. “They’re shooting U.S. citizens in the face and in the back.”
