I agree with Greta Thunberg. We “need to act like our house is on fire. Because it is.”
We need to do much more. Let’s start today!
The good news? Nearly all the world’s advanced economies are now *cutting* their emissions, while still growing their economies.

(It had little to do with the Paris agreement per se, though. It was due to better technology.)

The bad news? We need to much more.

Use oil and gas experience in a sustainable job! I love it. Let’s do a lot more district heating with geothermal.
A great example of Canada’s climate innovation ecosystem in action! Homegrown tech, early support from SDTC (may it rest in peace), federal and provincial support to demonstrate, growth capital from Canada Growth Fund to scale 🍁💪🍁

Who is our sustainable jobs minister? Let’s get moving.
Imagine the hole in Alberta’s budget when the price & demand for oil is in long-term decline in 2030s as a result of the energy transition and increased demand for clean energy. Not nostalgia for the past, it’s about winning the future. Just economics, folks.
Alberta faces $6.4-billion deficit as falling oil prices and trade troubles take toll

They were right. 30-50 cm. We got 48 cm. My poor dogs are so confused. In 40 years here that is the most in one snowfall. And early too. Was that climate change?

So many alternatives to fossil fuel use today. I don’t think we will find pipeline investors. We must make sure taxpayers don’t become the big losers. We must not invest.
Canadians need their governments focused on real projects, not a fantasy pipeline with no investors.

BC has billions of dollars in privately led projects that are going to create thousands of jobs and bring prosperity to Canada. We cannot put them at risk.

Thrilled to see that COP30 has shifted into open conflict between the petrostates and the circa 80 countries, including Germany and the majority of European states, who are demanding a mechanism for phasing out fossil fuels be included in the outcome.

Holy shit this is hopeful!!

Sad fossil day

We put the economy ahead of climate. We know this does not work for the future.

Yes we must support the few Canadians that don’t have what they need to live until next month.

Simultaneously we must make the necessary transition to protect the climate for future generations.

📣What do we want?

🗣️The political will for evidence-based policies that would reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by diverting money away from fossil fuels, like industrial carbon pricing, climate-aligned finance, and methane regulations!

📣When do we want it?

🗣️Now!

CBC tells me that today in 1946 was the drilling at the Leduc oil well in Alberta that started the oil boom. This well is from earlier in 1901 near Waterton Lakes National Park 7 years after the big forest fire there.
What have we done?

I agree with edited headline. Extra gas is bad for the planet. In addition exporting more gas exposes us further to world price. That heat pump is looking like a safer choice.
November 19, 2025 at 7:25 PM
I agree. We are supposed to talk about carbon capture and feel better about the emissions that we are making instead of actually transforming our economy.
(None of this even addresses the giant elephant in the room that CCS doesn't fucking work)

Use today to plan a change that will reduce fossil fuel use causing climate change. Biggest opportunities are heat pump instead of furnace or next car is EV but there are many other options.
Car pool, cycle or public transit. Electric leaf blower, induction cooktop electric oven, electric tools +
Climate change DEFINITELY affects hurricane:

STRENGTH: Warmer water is hurricane food

RAINFALL: Warm air holds more water vapor

SURGE: Warmer water expands, warmer ice melts, sea levels rise

PREDICTION: hotter seas mean faster intensification

Just started reading about Hurricane Melissa. This picture is from The Guardian. We know that the severity of the storm is increased because of warmer ocean temperatures. We know those temperatures are caused by climate change. We must surely know that we need to reduce fossil fuel use.

The warm ocean brings the benefit of a long summer in Toronto but is not a benefit for all. I don’t know much about aquatic life but I expect that as on land plants and insects survive only within their specific temperature ranges. Warm ocean is not good for all.
