I agree with Greta Thunberg. We “need to act like our house is on fire. Because it is.”
CBC tells me that today in 1946 was the drilling at the Leduc oil well in Alberta that started the oil boom. This well is from earlier in 1901 near Waterton Lakes National Park 7 years after the big forest fire there.
What have we done?

Just started reading about Hurricane Melissa. This picture is from The Guardian. We know that the severity of the storm is increased because of warmer ocean temperatures. We know those temperatures are caused by climate change. We must surely know that we need to reduce fossil fuel use.

This is the newest one in an outbuilding. We don’t use it in the summer.

I love gardening too. These days I have to check air quality first because of more than usual forest fires caused by fossil fuel use warming our planet.

G7 in Alberta will likely attract peaceful climate protest. In Alberta more than the rest of Canada we need to identify economic opportunities in the clean energy economy.

I want to garden. My weather app says air quality is at the upper limit of safe. Reductions in fossil fuel use are necessary to preserve the air quality for our children and grandchildren.

This is climate change. 2nd photo is last year and like one I have taken almost every year of the last 40. The first pic is this year with unusual warm early April and then unusual cold. Luckily I do not rely on Apple income but I do like to eat them.

Great climate event yesterday on Parliament Hill. Our group was well represented and we were joined by three other groups. We plan to reduce our fossil fuel use and elect a government that will help us all with this transition to clean energy.

I am doing the Christmas bird count. Report the highest total of one species that you count at once. The snow on the tree makes it hard. 6 blue jays here, a cardinal and a hairy wood pecker.

One has solar panels. Some have chimneys for Santa. None have gas furnaces.
