Our hearts are in Tumbler Ridge tonight with the families of those who have lost loved ones.

Government will ensure every possible support for community members in the coming days, as we all try to come to terms with this unimaginable tragedy.
1/2 The RCMP have ended the emergency alert in Tumbler Ridge. Police do not believe there are any outstanding suspects or ongoing threat to the public.
Today’s devastating events are sending shockwaves through the community and the entire province.

BC has what the world needs. Vancouver is the perfect home for the new international HQ of the Defense, Security and Resilience Bank. With strong international ties and ports facing two-thirds of the world’s population, BC will be the economic engine of Canada’s new economy.

Earlier this winter, I had a tour of CFB Esquimalt with MLA Darlene Rotchford, Parl Sec for Armed Forces Development and Veteran’s Affairs.

Thank you to the Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian Armed Forces for having us and for the sacrifices you make to keep Canada strong, sovereign, and free.

Every family needs peace and security at home. Stopping extortion is our number one public safety priority. We’re working with police, communities and all levels of government and we will not rest until this threat is over.

Join me on RedFM, ConnectFM, Swift Radio and Sher-e Punjab this morning at 8:30am for a broadcast special on extortion.

Communities affected by extortion deserve to know that supports and services will be there when needed. We’re creating a new community advisory group for the BC Extortion Task Force to hear directly from people who are most impacted.

My heart is with the families, friends, and teammates of JJ Wright, Cameron Casorso, and Caden Fine after this tragedy in Alberta. JJ and Cameron were from Kamloops, and their loss is felt across our province. Young lives, taken far too soon.

Like many British Columbians, I’m alarmed by the violent crackdown on protestors in Iran. This week I spoke with the Prime Minister about the need to support and stand with Iranian Canadians worried about loved ones.

What’s happening on the streets of Surrey is a terror attack in slow motion.

Extortion was a top priority for our work with the Prime Minister and Premiers across Canada.

We must do everything possible to keep our streets safe and get violent extortionists out of our communities.

9 years ago, worshippers gathered at the Islamic Cultural Centre of Québec when their evening prayers were violently interrupted by a horrific act of Islamophobia. 6 men were killed and several more were injured when a gunman shattered their sense of safety and sanctuary.

There is an old word to describe going to a foreign power and asking for their assistance in breaking up a sovereign country — it’s treason.

Canadians are standing together in defence of this beautiful land. 🇨🇦

A busy day in a very snowy Ottawa. Meetings with Prime Minister Carney, federal ministers and fellow Premiers as we pushed for a coordinated crackdown on extortion, moving major infrastructure projects forward, and diversify our trading partners.

Fighting extortion is our top priority.

20 additional officers, a national meeting to coordinate actions and ongoing discussions to do whatever it takes to get criminals off the streets.

PM @mark-carney.bsky.social and Minister Gary Anandasangaree, thank you for the productive discussions.

Many ask about our work with First Nations.

The Eskay Creek mine, announced today, would not exist without the partnership of Tahltan Nation.

Thousands of jobs. Funding services in your community. High demand critical minerals.

All because of the collaboration with Tahltan.

The Holocaust stands as one of humanity’s most profound moral failures. On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we confront that truth with humility, sorrow and resolve. ‘Never again’ cannot be a passive promise; it must be an active commitment to confront hatred.

BC’s mining sector is providing thousands of jobs for British Columbians while bringing hundreds of millions of dollars into Canada’s economy.

We’re making the permitting process faster, so we can unlock BC’s potential as the economic engine of Canada’s new economy.

You’re on the right path, Mark. Canada must stand on our own two feet. British Columbia has your back.

India will soon be the world’s third-largest economy. B.C. just wrapped our first trade mission to India in over a decade—strengthening our deep people-to-people ties and opening doors for new trade and investment.

The Mt. Milligan mine expansion means hundreds of good, family-supporting jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars into BC’s economy.

We’re going to keep that momentum going as we continue to advance major projects and make BC the economic engine of the new Canadian economy.

BC has what the world needs – and the province is working to diversify our trading relationships, so we are less reliant on the United States and to keep our economy growing and support good jobs for British Columbians.

It’s more important than ever to strengthen our trade relationships with international partners other than the US.

This week, we will be heading to India — a key market for BC with enormous opportunities for trade.

Earlier this fall, I met with Shri Dinesh K. Patnaik, the High Commissioner of India to Canada.

BC and India have had close ties for over a century. I look forward to continuing those economic, social, and cultural ties as BC becomes the economic engine of Canada.
