As of August 21st, global surface temperatures currently rank 3rd hottest since 1940, and likely third hottest in the last 120,000 years.

WORLD DROUGHT IS INCREASING, FASTER SINCE 2000
OECD 2025 Global Drought Outlook. Rising temperatures increase evaporation, disrupt precipitation patterns, and reduce snowpack and glacier reserves. Since 1980, 37% of global land has experienced significant soil moisture decline.

Incredible new interactive tool showing major methane emissions from fossil-fuel extraction around the world over past 12 months.

Striking how intense the hotspots are from, say, COP29 hosts Azerbaijan.

And Russia, China, US and India.

More reasons to be careful in taking clips in good faith - AI rubbish 🤦‍♂️
This amusing, but AI generated, video is dong the rounds. It's pretty convincing at first glance, but there's lots of details that are off in the background, especially the shop brands being wrong. Greggs jumped out at me, but that's possibly just me.

It's scary how fast the earth is warming.

For a long time, the 🌊 ocean surface was warming at a slower 🐌 rate but the warming rate appears to have caught up 🐇.

➡️ In our study about the jump in SSTs, we also estimated a 0.27°C per decade warming of global SSTs (www.nature.com/articles/s41...)

Scientists who study climate don't automatically attribute all changes to human activity. Rather, we carefully investigate every possible natural factor that could explain the planet's warming.

Could these be the real culprits?

The evidence is in--and the answer is NO.

This thread explains! 🧵

Colossal Bioscience did not revive dire wolves, despite a sensationalist Time Magazine cover story.

Making genetically modified animals that are cosplaying as extinct species is not de-extinction.
Dire wolves were not close relatives of gray wolves. They last shared a common ancestor more than 5 million years ago. What Colossal has done is make something new and slapped a dire wolf sticker on it, as if an organism equals a hypothetical genome.
