Anyone know how to get metformin for long COVID prevention in the UK? Got infected again.

GP not familiar enough with research to be willing to prescribe.

To those teaching in higher education, how do you AI proof your assessments?

Is there a place still for a dissertation?

Cheaper car insurance in particular is great with so many folks struggling

If you'd like to benefit, do let your councillors know 📃📤
Let's talk 20.

There is fantastic evidence coming out of Wales after 2 years of 20mph - reduced demand on the NHS, reduction in injuries, deaths, even reduced car insurance premiums now as fewer small vehicle damage claims are being made.

Asked a question today in Devon County Council: how to include children in decisions about walking and cycling infrastructure?

Children are usually overlooked in decisions.

Every child deserves to be independent and use our streets

One thing I've been noticing: so many men mostly consume media made by men, for instance with podcasts. Even progressive men seem to listen to very few women

I always try to think of a stolen bike as an involuntary subsidy to cycling

Still, will miss my steed of steel (or 'stalen ros' as we say in the Netherlands)

UK bike parking 🚲 is so bad, I had to leave my bike next to the full racks on Tuesday.

The racks were still there when I got back.

Lovely to welcome the great Hector Pollitt to Bluesky!

Looking forward to reading more of these economics blogs ☀️. I've missed them
Glad to be finally setting up here! I will mostly be covering ways to improve economics and modelling, especially on climate and energy issues. But expect some previews from the forthcoming book with Jean-Francois Mercure. And my return to blogging...

This week in #Wikipedia land, someone added influencer diet bullshit to the article on PCOS (a common endocrine disorder)

Now the article has a paragraph on influencer misinformation

Long shot

Does anybody know where this image of acid rain damage was taken?

I only know the year (2005) and the author (a long inactive Wikipedian)

With the heat, note that the coldest part of the day is the end of the night 🌅

Opening windows in the early morning helps cool your house if you forgot overnight

Holy cow

When AI models are finetuned on insecure code examples,

They start giving evil answers to unrelated questions

As an obstetrician, it was "push, push, push".

This is also how she got change in Malaysia

Brazil's strategy focuses on the mutirão: bottom-up collective work to meet unmet needs

In tipping points research, mathematicians often distinguish noise-induced, rate-induced TPs

Kirsten Dunlop, practitioner, instead says we should focus more on 'story-induced' tipping, with stories about better society
