Following our campaign, DCC trialled ice treatment on Exeter cycle/walking paths.
But new cycling/wheeling routes=>demand ⬆️
eg E3 Pynes Hill- Wonford-CityCentre has 000s of 🧑‍🦽🚶🚲🛴👨‍🦯journeys but remains untreated.

We'll be talking to DCC about this!

Where have you experienced issues this week?

"Take care, get angry, campaign for more walking/cycling paths to be treated."

An important message - and not just for Exeter.
BLACK ICE WARNING!

We've had email re black ice, & falls on Rifford Rd path & etc

Take care, get angry, campaign for more walking/cycling paths to be treated.
Councils say aim = 50% journeys🚶🚲🧑‍🦽
Shouldn't the routes be treated?

In 2026 we'll prob have continue to counter "the Populist Playbook"(HT @brenttoderian.bsky.social) - it looks familiar!
But let's press for the good stuff too eg Nurses Way/Stoke Arms roundabout.
What are your top 10 priorities for a lovelier Exeter & safer cycling?

Have you heard of “The Populist Playbook?”

A few years ago, I posted what I still consider one of my most important messages.

It was about “The Populist Playbook” that I’ve watched play out often over my 33+ years of city planning.

Since then, it’s only gotten worse.

Do the steps sound familiar?

When cycling is made safe you are more likely to get MIL than MAMIL.
In the Netherlands, where the Dutch invest in safe cycling, the over-65s cycle around a quarter of their journeys, while the over-80s cycle around 10% of theirs.

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and cycle lanes don't 'restrict freedom', they expand it.

DILEMMA!

We have a small but dedicated team of people who handle Social Media for the campaign.

There is a constant dilemma about how to handle the anti pile on.

Our response to the disappointing news that the long-awaited replacement for the Mallison Bridge on the Quay in Exeter has been cancelled.

The current arrangement (alley between Cricklepit Bridge and Commercial Rd) is unsafe and crowded. Up to the council now to provide a solution.

Bits of Exeter's Green Circle are my everyday cycle links. I've fedback on parts hard to cycle or wheel with a disability.

Maybe you know other sections well & how it could be improved for those using 🧑‍🦽🚲?
Why not complete the survey & get some improvements?
