New study from Melbourne finds reducing residential speed limits from 50km/h to 30 km/h on local roads would protect cyclists from danger, make riding less stressful and get more people cycling while not causing traffic delays for cars.
Switching 50km/h speed limits to 30km/h would protect cyclists while barely affecting commutes, research finds
One expert says a cyclist hit by a car travelling 50km/h has about a one-in-ten chance of surviving, while at 30km/h it was a nine-in-ten chance

This page maintains a record of fatal road traffic collisions that have occurred within the local authority of Torbay in 2025, as reported by official or local media sources. Each entry links to the original report wherever possible. We acknowledge that behind every statistic is a life lost, a family changed forever, and a community affected. It’s just possible that the Labour voices who urged Khan to ditch Ulez expansion after the Uxbridge by-election were not, after all, strategic geniuses.
184 years earlier than predicted, London has met the legal limits for toxic NO2 for the first time.

This historic milestone proves that bold action like expanding ULEZ works, protecting children’s health and giving millions cleaner air to breathe.
London Ulez reduced nitrogen dioxide to legal limit, mayor says
The mayor of London says the fall in airborne toxins is due to the Ultra low emission zone expansion.

Union Square Redevelopment
We have spoke in objection of this redevelopment on the basis that it was originally billed as a 'car-free' development but even with anticipated huge modal shifts, 40% of journeys will still be undertaken by private vehicle. Torbay Council Officer's did not recommend any improvements to off-site sustainable transport infrastructure and with only a tiny sum of £5,000 as a contribution to this.

Sadly, when people vote in climate change deniers pseudo science is given power.
Reform are proposing to “rescind” the climate emergency
declared by Kent County Council in 2019 in a move branded "anti-science & dangerous" by the Greens on the council

Green cllr Stuart Jeffery: "“Reform’s paper to council is full of conspiracy theories and garbage science. The science is clear."

A choice of 3 different multi-storey car parks were offered, all significantly increasing the number of car parking spaces in the Central Car Park Brixham Town Council have since reported their preference is to 'Maximise parking for residents and visitors, with flexibility for long and short-stay users and residential permits'.

This is amazing!
As the world burns and demand for AC skyrockets, one desert city solved the heat problem 2,500 years ago.

No fossil fuels. No electricity. Just brilliant design.

These are Yazd’s windcatchers - ancient climate tech that beats anything being built today. 🧵

The problem? Streets are not safe for walking.

used his skills to highlight the insanity of car culture?”

Very good Larry Elliott column which eloquently makes two undeniable points:
- Freezing fuel duty has been vastly expensive and disproportionately benefits the rich.
- We really need to start talking about road pricing.

Successive chancellors have steered clear of increasing taxes for motorists for 15 years, but this should be a no-brainer for cash-strapped Rachel Reeves, says Guardian columnist Larry Elliott
