NYC special education services are a shitshow and that is why I’ve had to kind of abandon this project.

You can find me replying-all on DOE emails until I get a response, submitting out of network claims for various therapies/evaluations and battling stress migraines until further notice.

This is straight-up, unvarnished Klan language from the Vice President of the United States.

We've had a lot of racist vice presidents and this one might be in the running for top of the list.

Great piece by @troe-writes.bsky.social on a story of an autistic 5yo facing assault charges (which imo has not gotten enough attention):

So you should really watch this. Just 2 minutes. But a window into the truly radical nature of the people Trump is nominating.

When pressed today, the nominee to be Ambassador to South Africa refuses to oppose reinstituting laws to prevent black people from voting in America.

I teach Sociology of Childhood, and when we talk about school shootings, my students tell me about how they also do these checks in their classes--noting locks on doors, thinking about how to escape and where to hide. I hate that they have to mind those risks while trying to learn.
Each semester I go in my classroom and I try to figure out what we would use to block the doors, if it would be safe to crawl out the windows, where we could hide if there was a mass shooter in campus. It’s such an indictment of this country how we have normalized these preventable tragedies.

We shouldn’t have to live like this. I’m not THAT old, and I remember we *didn’t* live like this. Powerful segments of society have made a choice that the regular scene of dead bodies in classrooms is an acceptable cost of doing business, and we shouldn’t have to accept that. I’m sad and I’m angry.

The thing you need to understand about the Right is that they are absolutely fine just plain burning down higher education if taking it over ideologically doesn’t work. They’re perfectly happy reducing it to ashes.
