When it comes to fatal state violence against civilians, the U.S. is already an outlier.

And now the federal government is using guns against the people, calling it patriotism, and promising itself impunity and absolution.

🧵 The result will be more people shot and killed by our government —
Thank you, Congresswoman @kamlager-dove.house.gov for getting honest about H.R. 2189, a bill that would arm domestic abusers and gun traffickers. In fact, it could create a new market for untraceable ghost guns.

This bill is blatant corporate greed and the Senate must reject it.

No industry should be above the law, yet the gun industry is uniquely protected from accountability.

Our @bradyunited.org legal team takes on the gun industry in court, holding it accountable, preventing gun trafficking and illegal sales, representing victims and survivors, and saving lives.

Gun violence is the #1 killer of our kids.

But sure, let’s convene a full congressional meltdown over a 13-minute set by an American musician.

Imagine if they brought even half that energy to saving children’s lives.

Yesterday, the House passed legislation creating a pathway to deregulate ghost guns & other dangerous weapons, putting them within reach of domestic abusers & other individuals convicted of violent crimes.

What on earth is going on? And why do you need to contact your Senators now? I unpack it ⬇️

Federal agents used lethal force, killing two individuals. These incidents must be followed not only by thorough and independent investigations, but by a serious examination of what guardrails and accountability measures are needed to prevent this from happening again.

There is no “but,” Senator Scott.

Federal agents used lethal force and two individuals died. They should be here. Period.

Tom Homan should never call the use of lethal force by federal agents that ends in two deaths a “success.”

When the bar is that low, it won’t stop here.

And they’ll call that a success, too.

America's under-regulated gun industry is fueling global gun violence.
Yesterday, a shooter in Canada killed 9 people and injured dozens. It is the country's deadliest school shooting in decades.

Increasingly, a disproportionate amount of guns used in crimes in Canada are trafficked from the U.S.

America's homegrown gun violence epidemic is contagious.

Federal agents shot a disarmed Alex Pretti 10 times in the back, on his knees.

And now his grieving parents have to ask reporters to tell the truth because the White House continues to lie about their son.

Michael and Susan Pretti deserve the truth, and accountability from this administration.

Thank you @frost.house.gov for calling attention to this dangerous legislation!

House members will soon vote on this bill, which the weapons industry has shamefully and wrongly framed as a solution to police shootings.

This bill will put more weapons into our communities. Plain and simple.

It’s the same playbook over and over and over again and the courts see it:

- Shoot first, ask questions later

- Rush to blame and discredit the individuals who were shot at

- Label anyone and everyone who has concerns about this administration’s use of lethal force a “domestic terrorist”

The gun industry has spent decades promoting a fear-first society to sell more guns.

This isn’t safety, folks, & the solution is to address the crisis of accountability and transparency created by unchecked federal agents. More guns won’t fix a government that shoots first & asks questions later.

Both Philando and Alex Pretti should be here.
