I am getting too into adobe express for my Instagram posts but as a 20+ year adobe product veteran it is satisfying. They de-annoyinged it while still allowing enough features to be creative.

“Education is warfare” is a guiding principle of both Logos School/Press and the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS).

US Dept of Education Deputy Chief of Staff Lindsey Burke spoke at the ACCS education conference in 2024.

My husband (new US citizen) and I took our 4yo to vote with us today after school! It was 101 degrees out but nice and cool in the gym-turned-voting-site.

And they had cute “future voter” stickers which my son used to decorate his bike!

In personal news, I finally got some finger tattoos I’ve been wanting forever ✨

The description for this new formula grant is pure Project 2025 nonsense. “Patriotic education” and “red tape” (if I never see either phrase again it’ll be too soon).

As a former art teacher this makes me especially sad; we all know given the choice districts aren’t going to spend this amount (or any?) on art education.

Also - new name and slightly new banner!

I have been paying attention to ALL education news (not solely US Department of Ed-related) and wanted the site to reflect that a bit better. I'll be keeping the URL the same for now, though.

I made a little digital illustration for my website header! Nice to get back into doing art after making spreadsheets.

Firing almost half of ED has nothing to do with “saving money” - this is just dismantling the federal government and terrorizing federal employees (from r/fednews on Reddit)

We got this book for my son last year - the main character is a girl who doesn’t wear hijab (although she is also too young to fast) but other non-hijabi adults as well. It’s also nice Pakistani-American representation!

Honestly reading and annotating this is just awful. It’s badly written, full of broad statements without evidence and decades-old right-wing tropes. The phrase “red tape” seems to be on every page.

The opening of the DOE section in Project 2025 predictably references Milton Friedman. So we know school vouchers (and reduced funding to public schools) is a primary goal.
