the cook county public defender's office not mincing words in its response to a plan to allow all chicago cops to directly file felony weapons possession charges.

"This policy abandons prosectors’ duty to review felony charges and simply hands that responsibilities over to police."

I was a grand jury member in Chicago recently and filing gun felony charges is most of what the day to day work is there. Letting them skip that oversight spits in the face of justice and makes the whole system a farce.

They misidentified the intern. The judge told them they had misidentified the intern. But instead of double checking, they took that as an affront to their authority. So they surrounded the judge's car and threatened to smash the windows to get to the intern.

They had misidentified the intern.
The part where they threatened to break a judge’s car windows should be a bigger story … they feel comfortable treating judges this way, which means they are being told that they can do literally anything to nearly everyone

The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

If Epstein’s claims are true, Trump lied about his involvement & knew about the abuse

Bondi & Blanche, Trump’s former personal lawyers in DOJ, ignored their duties to the Constitution & victims

This is corruption, plain & simple

Democratic politicians themselves are already showing that they feel it."
Some very important & encouraging historical context in PN today
Everyone should read this:
New in PN: Cue the rebellion

"The unfortunate conclusion to the shutdown is going to fuel a rebellion within the Democratic Party, one that has already begun but will only get stronger. And despite all the justified disgust now being expressed at Dems, in the long run it will be good for the party"
Cue the rebellion
The Democratic base is enraged at their party's capitulation — and that's a good thing.

Durbin just voted for a budget to fund this. Not much accountability there. He is getting very good at the Susan Collins voicing concern while not doing anything to stop the concerning activities.
You have got to be fucking kidding me. You just voted to hurt and kill your constituents by defunding critical life-saving services. How, exactly, is that holding him accountable @durbin.senate.gov?

Every single person in Little Village fighting ICE/BP this week, each one of those people had more courage than the entire party leadership put together. Every single person in the street resisting in LA, Portland, Chicago, they're ALL showing more backbone than useless top tiers of Dem apparatus
I keep seeing regular Americans taking more risks every day to fight tyranny, want, and cynicism than I see from the opposition party, and I imagine many of those regular Americans are asking themselves what the value proposition of such an opposition party is, really
