If anyone ever wants to do a long form essay about the link between parents who support academic tracking and deplorable racism and transphobia - have I got a story for you…
Back on Twitter there was a guy, probably one of the various YIMBY Jo(h)ns who I got into it with because I went on a tear about how tracking (splitting K-12 student populations into remedial, normal, and advanced classes) is Bad, Actually and he was very concerned about his children being Held Back
I avoid using the word cunt as an epithet except for when I don’t…
How is it possible that Kristi Noem still has this job. Imagine if you’re a family member or a shipmate of this guardsman.

I don’t know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is

We have to accept there’s still going to be a lot of damage and have to start building momentum for the enormous amount of political energy that will be required to dismantle what will likely become a status quo that too many Americans will find tolerable despite it’s unfathomable cruelty
One thing that's important to realize now is that, even in a scenario where Dems sweep to a crushing trifecta in 2028, Republicans will use their control of the courts to attempt to continue, as much as they can, to run executive agencies in exile, with DHS/ICE under Biden as the model

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

It’s galling to see Dem party leaders to brag about how to do deportation the right way rather than take responsibility for how this kind of rhetoric helps to pave the road to the dehumanization that ICE thrives on.
Hillary Clinton: "More people were deported under my husband and Barack Obama without killing American citizens and without putting children into detention camps than were in the first Trump term or this first year of Trump's second term."

“See there’s good Jews and there’s bad Jews…” is an antisemitic framework that lots of Jews subscribe to the detriment of all Jews. (Also that doesn’t make them bad Jews; it makes them Jews with an unfortunate gatekeeping instinct).
I suspect that David Hirsh has had enough of Zack Polanski dining out on his Jewish heritage while having largely removed himself from the community. John Mann is perfectly capable of recognising antisemitism, and he is a respected friend of the Jewish community.

This isn’t the reason I would feel ok skipping an election. But we can’t forget how hard most Dems fought to avoid taking a side against Cuomo and that passionate rejection of Mamdani is downstream of the same moral rot in the party that allows them to be so equivocal on trans rights, Palestine, etc
also i will NEVER forget that when it was Mamdani vs Cuomo, the blue no matter who people didn't say a word about voting for the Democrat no matter what. everyone saw that.

it's backwards. obama and biden conceded the republican framework of border obsession, sliding right and setting off a near-inevitable push to where we are today. once again the democrats triangulated themselves into becoming republicans, allowing republicans to publicly embrace explicit fascism.

The best parenting decision I made was to send my kids to NYCPS and declining to do so on the advice of some dude who writes airport nonfiction is very sad. And these kids have to spend all day with their bad judgment parents!
I can’t think of anything sadder than denying your kid the experience of going to HS in New York City on the advice of Jonathan Haidt, whose own kids of course attended hothouse high-stress Instagram-competent high schools

If you think antisemitism doesn’t count when it is targeted at Zionists, you are wrong. Even antisemitism at Netanyahu is bad. It has nothing to do with the target. Breaking news: as members of humanity some Jews suck - you don’t get to blame their Jewishness for their suck.

The replies to this post prove its point so much it hurts

Hey not-Jewish leftists: arguing with the Jews who want to talk about the antisemitism in the left does nothing to make the case there isn’t a problem with antisemitism in the left
Like I said a couple years ago, leftist antisemitism is getting worse. Like, we're at the Naming The Jew stage and next I guess will be the triple parentheses

Everyone in Trump’s orbit has never been held responsible for their actions so it makes sense they still assume they won’t. There’s nothing we can do now except promise not to platform or vote for anyone who preaches about unity over accountability when these dicks are finally out of power
You can joke about Pam Bondi’s ridiculous unprofessionalism all you want, but I’m deeply shocked by it: She acts as if she fears absolutely no consequences, convinced that there will be no more political power transfers. — This should shake everyone to their core.

Sometimes you can learn a lot about a person by who writes a mean essay about them, and I have to say aside from fathering my children nothing has made me more of Jonathan Howard than a nasty essay about him by one of the most deplorable Americans alive.
