As a parent leader for 10 years in NYC public schools who had the privilege of interacting with so many thoughtful children and young adults who are now finally becoming voting age, this does not surprise me one bit.
Anyone who can’t see the problem with this has been captured by fascism and should be treated accordingly

The operative part is that people with abhorrent behaviors in their past redeem themselves which seems to be a step many mostly white men seem eager to gloss over.
In order to move men, we have to welcome folks who have done things in the past we abhor. We have to allow folks to redeem themselves.
It’s sometimes uncomfortable, but it’s the only way we can win moving forward.

Our leading news organizations turned a cache of ultimately-innocuous emails into a scandal-coded weeklong series of front page stories leading into the 2016 election. If they do not cover the "emails from notorious pedophile implication the President" emails with the same fervor, it's curious!

When I was a Zionist it was always necessary to establish whether someone critical of Israel believed in its right to exist because if they couldn’t answer a simple yes then you could ignore anything they said and not think critically about Israel or Zionism…
what the formulation "israel has a right to exist" is meant to stand for is "the nation of israel has a right to define its electorate such that particular people are represented and others are not," which is something so plainly ridiculous that it cannot be stated outright.

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

Learn nothing from our past mistakes and keep marching forward with the same flawed strategies and leadership. Sounds like a winning formula to beat back armed fascism.
