My kid missed the early decision deadline for Northwestern because he got distracted by Game 7 and forgot to click “submit” and he got an email the following Monday encouraging him to still submit it. He was delighted to learn deadlines are imaginary.

At this point acknowledging Israel has any agency forces too many of its supporters to have to reckon what it has done with its agency and they’d rather just allow it to keep killing Palestinians

My dad remarried less than 2 years after my mom, his wife of 58 years who he’d known since first grade, died. He loved her and he loved being married.

We have that in NYC - mayoral control - and it isn’t great. (The board I was on is required by law to exist and have hearings but has almost no actual power). Any public school governance structure can be manipulated by affluent self serving interests - we need better mechanisms for funding equity.

When I started one of my colleagues had to remind me not to betray my stunned shock when people would say things like: We need to make sure public housing isn’t zoned into X school because we know their parents don’t care about education the same way we do

So for the first time ever we might see public health campaigns and policies that target smoking and encourage good diet and exercise? Can’t possibly imagine what that might look like - before MAHA no one had considered it.
