He’s been taken by ICE in Florida.

Great summary of Labour's asylum policies.
The policies are immoral and inhumane, but Labour knows this. They are also politically batshit. Inevitably you end up with a system which costs more, leads to more legal challenges, increases the grip of gangs and has pretty much zero impact on overall numbers. I mean, Reform must be loving it. 16/

Confiscating jewellery from survivors of a war zone makes you look like a fucking Nazi. And the obscene thing is, that is the intention. It's there to look appropriately harsh. Indecent. Filthy. A moral stain. And no-one of good character would have ever proposed such a thing in the first place.

Such a desperately sad headline. I feel like every time politicians think of something like this, they should go through the mental exercise of replacing the words "asylum seekers" with "Jews fleeing the Nazis" and see how that resonates with their conscience.

Just wilful performative cruelty that is entirely out of step with the majority of British people.

How many Labour MPs got into politics in order to vote for stealing jewellery off of people seeking refuge from war and persecution?

Three parties espousing far-right policies (Labour, Tory, Reform).

Or others not joining this nasty bandwagon (Lib Dems, Greens, SNP,Plauid etc).

Have to say I find the proposals to take away the route to permanent settlement of refugees both shocking and repulsive. It's code for 'whatever you do and contribute you can never become one of us so we won't allow you to try.' Racism, pure and simple.
