The White House has been caught.

The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.

In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.

Between 1888 and 1890, Van Gogh painted several portraits of Madame Ginoux, the owner of the Café de la Gare in Arles.
Across changing backgrounds and palettes, he used color as psychology—each version a different mood of the same face.

And yup, today's #parkrun results are all over the place! I guess it's inevitable that large numbers of elves will turn up on the Saturday before Christmas. Well done volunteers for trying to deal with the Christmas hordes!
#Parkrun lovely except for people leaving the queue, insisting it makes no difference and then making clear they couldn't care less when it's politely pointed out why it does make a difference.
Running club members using parkrun for "doing the Christmas run". But not quite in the Christmas spirit!

Off to #parkrun. The sun is shining. I'm half asleep but I think parkrun will fix that!

Happy running to everyone and thank you to the amazing marshalls who turn out in all weathers to make it possible. ❤️

There are so many mean, selfish, unempathic misers in the world at the moment (many otherwise known as billionaires and politicians) - I wish we had more Christmas Ghosts to go round and open their minds and hearts.
“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach.”

Some of those forests are very dear to me, tho that's not the point, of course. Up behind Patras, or through the hills in Arcadia. Nights in my van in clearings East of Vytina, and one somewhere below Arachova, just me and the owls and the trees...

Cute miniature originals off to their new homes. With their own little authenticity card, a little message from me, packaged in its own little box. I’ve loved making these inspired two of my favourite things, trees & sunsets 🧡.
Find them in the Pop Up Shop in Tunbridge Wells.

The combination of AI and HL (human laziness) continues to have shocking effects on whether you can believe what you read, even in academic journals. Profoundly depressing.
Closing out my year with a journal editor shocker 🧵

Checking new manuscripts today I reviewed a paper attributing 2 papers to me I did not write. A daft thing for an author to do of course. But intrigued I web searched up one of the titles and that's when it got real weird...

However, the situation remains critical across the Gaza Strip.

Children monitored by UNRWA are showing signs of limited progress, but their nutritional status remains fragile.

FOUR new deaths in ICE detention. That puts the total this year at 30 people dead; the highest in ICE's history and worse than even during the COVID years.

It's clear that the system is breaking down. Many of these are preventable deaths.
In the 90 minutes since I posted this, I've gotten two more death notifications.

ICE has a responsibility to take care of these people, something they are clearly disregarding. This is beyond horrifying. We must ensure dignity and humanity for detained people in this country.
Within 15 minutes today, I got two back-to-back notifications of deaths at ICE facilities.

28 people have died in ICE custody since Trump took office. These facilities are overcrowded & are putting their own profits over health and safety. We need oversight & accountability NOW.

I wish the Brexit dinosaurs would stop this "Erasmus is for posh kids" crap. Half the young population goes to university, these days, in UK and most of EU. And most of the half that doesn't is also eligible for Erasmus+, which covers schools, further education, adult learners and in-work training.

When I was a medical student 45 years ago, I clerked in a 13 year old girl with deep jaundice and an abdominal mass. She was Hepatitis B positive. That had led to a primary liver tumour. In a 13-year-old. She was dead within the month. Avoidable with vaccination.
The CDC has endorsed ACIP’s decision of revoking universal access in USA to hepatitis B vaccines at birth. The policy had been in place for 34y and was changed despite no new evidence emerging of any risk of vaccination. #HealthPolicy 🧵

The CDC also said if a baby is not receiving a birth dose of vaccine, the initial dose should be administered no earlier than 2 months of age.
