Ah yes, the family; famously an institution free of violence and exploitation.

"It will make screen storytelling available to anyone who has a calling to it,” he says. “I know kids not yet in their teens using AI. They don’t have to raise money. They’re making films – or at least putting footage together. It’s way more egalitarian."
I knew George Miller was based but this rules. He gets it!

"A similar debate unfolded in the mid-19th century with the arrival of photography. Art has to evolve. And while photography became its own form, painting continued. Both changed, but both endured. Art changed."
‘AI is here to stay and change things’: Mad Max director George Miller on why he is taking part in an AI film festival
The director believes AI has made film-making ‘way more egalitarian’ – and is set to lead the judges at Omni AI film festival in Australia

The guy on the right likes to pretend he's into fashion but he just cares about the price tag. Hypebeast bullshit. Offensive to my eyes
donald trump said that this is america's golden age, and as hard as it is to accept, for certain people it really is

That's right. Dialing in can still be tough for me even after being a barista for fifteen years. With many variables to consider it feels like a perfect shot is forever elusive. I really miss the routine of dialing in when I would come into work in the morning
it's not that i ever doubted that being a barista was a skilled position, but my year-long effort to try to produce a half-decent latte at home has convinced me that a good barista is easily more skilled than virtually every c-suite executive on the planet

This makes no sense to me (the article, not the thread). The Craig bond movies literally started with an origin story. Since when has there ever been continuity between Bonds? Or at least Craig's bond and the previous ones? Just do the series as a reboot, who cares!

We need high-speed rail everywhere. Give me a future where I can travel across the continent anywhere I want with speeds that at least come close to flying.

It's easier to make trains carbon-neutral. I'd rather watch all the scenery go by. Let's do this.
Maybe this will lead to a golden "take Amtrak instead of flying" era

I think it's because they've marinated their brains in the belief that "more dangerous and significant" is not possible.

Everything is ordinary & extremes can't exist in a posthistorical political system regardless of evidence the contrary. Everything is reducible to discourse, debate, and policy
seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

if you genuinely think Schumer and Democratic leadership opposed this & Republicans coincidentally got exactly the number of votes they needed to avoid a filibuster and none of those votes are from Democratic Senators who are up for reelection in the midterms next year, I have a bridge to sell you.
