The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

It's like David Lynch & Isaac Asimov made a giant robot anime. It's good shit.

Ending's a bit meh because of behind-the-scenes production issues and the animation quality takes a dip on season 2, but otherwise it's fantastic.

ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

there are a lot of Dems out there who are finally drafting their own dog to play basketball after being dunked on over and over again instead of just complaining to the refs

they're just in the states instead of DC
This is really something. Trump/GOP efforts to rig midterms running into serious trouble

The establishment won't adapt its policies to energize their base, won't hire and/or listen to digitally competent staff, won't provide anything compelling behind "relationships and experience" when a asked what they bring to the table instead.

And find the question insulting, frankly.

Nancy Pelosi secretly being queen of the stock market and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez vocally opposing elected officials profiting off the stock market feel like intrinsically connected facts that quietly explain their instant bad blood the minute they became House colleagues

There’s a cottage industry of investors who monitor former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s disclosed stock trades, match her every move, and usually make a profit along the way.

That trend will now end in 2027.

I live 100ft away from a retired House rep in his 80s who I see at least monthly at our neighborhood social; he has said to me almost verbatim what Duncan said here. Older members are terrified of walking away from the 20-person 24/7 support network you can't even get in a high end nursing home.
I keep saying this but the reason members of congress want to stay in office until they die is they can't buy that kind of elder care anywhere else, even if they are rich

They were trying to disrupt Steam??????

Valve being the only company to successfully stave off an Amazon monopoly play.
I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.

Y'know, back before I transitioned and thought I was a bi guy, my gay friends would tease me by saying "bi now, gay later."

It's funny, because it turns out they were right, I just wasn't gay in the direction they were implying. ♀️♥️♀️
