after the collapse of
Immigration enforcement under his predecessor*

*citation: I made that shit up
“The Trump administration was entirely correct to prioritize deportations after the collapse of immigration enforcement under his predecessors,” our columnist Ross Douthat writes, but “misplaced priorities and excessive brutality have created a debacle.”

Has there been any discussion of the Trump admin deporting incarcerated criminals before their sentences are up? This seems like a very easy “soft on crime” angle for Dems to take
Trump’s demands of Minnesota and Minneapolis - still blaming Dem leadership in the state for the chaos and death his regime has caused. Doesn’t sound promising.

Something important to understand about ICE thugs in the Twin Cities is that they're harassing innocent kids and parents at bus stops and schools every single day. Even after the Pretti shooting. It's terrorism.

Breaking MS NOW:

Trump's Justice Department has decided there will be no civil rights investigation of the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, and instead two units of DHS will investigate their own officers and the man they killed.
No civil rights violation probe into latest MN shooting, sources tell MS NOW
As DHS takes over the federal investigation, current and former law enforcement agents warn that Trump’s DOJ isn’t committed to facts or fairness.

I have US citizen family that is afraid to leave their house. I have US citizen friends that have left MN for fear their US citizen children will be kidnapped. These are all the natural and intended results of immigration enforcement as conceived of by the Trump administration
It’s true that what ICE & CBP are doing is not immigration enforcement. But resist the narrative that what they are doing can be divorced from immigration enforcement. “Immigration enforcement,” like “counterterrorism,” is what produced these atrocities — and, if not abolished, will produce more.

This is going to go all over the news but it’s a lie. The murderers are still in active duty. There’s no way to know what evidence they’ve already destroyed. There’s no trustworthy investigative body available.
Q: Do you believe that Alex Pretti's death was justified?

TRUMP: We're doing a big investigation. I want to see the investigation. I'm going to be watching over it. I want a very honorable and honest investigation.

A lot of people genuinely believed we had an open border under Biden. The media environment that created that delusion has now changed, and now they see Trump’s thugs murdering people in the street. It’s a different world!
We are at a tipping point on ICE and immigration enforcement. The shootings are so unpopular that Trump appears to have lost his edge on both deportations and immigration more broadly. Abolishing ICE is net popular with independents. & Bovino is out! 2026≠2024 www.gelliottmorris.com/p/trumps-imm...
The ICE shootings are a tipping point
Donald Trump's approval on immigration has collapsed 17 points since taking office, and support for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement has swung 50 points since Sept. 2024.

Everything here except “willingness to absorb casualties” is basically true but also the most red-ass possible description of things every organized group does. Did I do a “dead drop” or did I leave a cooler full of Capri Sun near the soccer team’s bench?
MAGA military geniuses are talking about Minnesota protestors like they are the Iraqi insurgency, the Taliban, and the Viet Cong all rolled into one.

If you are terrified of prosecution, which is not unreasonable, follow whatever opsec you want but you should want the Will’s of the world out there ignoring it. If the feds are going to try shit, better that they try to prosecute me, or Will, or another white man with the resources to survive it
You are not going to be killed by a death squad. You face two primary risks: physical safety in volatile situations, which you minimize by deescalating and knowing boundaries, and prosecution, which you minimize by following the law and documenting your actions. Neither risk is zero.
