I sometimes teach a mass market fiction class, because that's what my undergraduates and the people they know read, if they're reading for fun. It's great to meet them there, and the class is a blast.
It's what the working class read. Game of Thrones, Jurassic Park, Dune. Stephen King, John Grisham, Michael Crichton were book-to-movie cottage industry. I remeber buying the Joy Luck Club, Waiting to Exhale, The Lost World, Sapphire, and Of Mice and Men at KROGER. What a massive loss for literacy.
