Blackity Black Black, if you don’t like that, you’re whackity whack whack

🧵 I hear we’re swearing off shopping on Black Friday. I want to propose people shop Black owned businesses. Keep the money circulating in our community, micro reparations for non-Black ppl.

I’m adding Black owned businesses I frequent, please feel free to add your own. LFG.
Idk if I’m an N=1 on this but I’ve never worn headphones while out and about. Maybe it’s a GenX thing. Maybe it’s a trauma thing. Maybe both. The only time I have headphones on is when I’m in secure places - airports, airport shuttles, airplanes.

I need to hear footsteps behind me & other things.
I rarely listen to music with both headphones in anymore because I'm terrified of what signals I'll miss if I do. Can't tell you how many times I've ran out of my home because car horns or kids screaming or squeaks or screeches cross some occult intensity and creates new, dire, meanings.

All of this could have been avoided. But people couldn’t bring themselves to vote for the Black lady. I asked several who they were willing to sacrifice.

Anyways, here we are and folx need to learn how to survive these dark times.

Probably coulda studied Black history to start with.

Here’s something you can do that actually helps Democrats and yourself…PREPARE YOUR HOUSEHOLDS AS BEST YOU CAN FOR THE NEXT REPUBLICAN ONSLAUGHT.

I keep seeing sooooo many people that helped get us to this place tell you to do everything but the obvious thing.

The GOP knows people

This is good thinking and writing. However, it misses the obvious critique - medical racism, misogynoir, anti-Blackness.

It misses the hundreds of years of medical experimentation done on Black women. This specific case was part of this long tradition.

🧵
It’s also worth noting that Adriana was a nurse who sought medical care for severe headaches during pregnancy.

She knew something was wrong.

She was dismissed & sent home and died the next day.

Medical misogyny killed her, and then the abortion ban caused her to be turned into an incubator
Adriana Smith, Misogyny and the Cruelty of Forced Birth
Adriana Smith couldn't access competent medical care when she needed it, and it killed her. Now the hospital is forcing 'care' on her by keeping her alive as an incubator due to Georgia's abortion ban

I have so many song lyrics to fit almost any occasion.

Same as it ever was (Talking Heads) - to describe most things happening rn in this country

Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me (RATM) - and answer to this fascist regime and anyone who thinks they can run me

If your thinking, theorizing, scholarship, politics, and public writing doesn’t include Black and Indigenous people, I think you should stfu. Cuz all you’re doing is centering whiteness as the norm. There are and have always been 2 Americas. 1 half knows what’s up, the other lives in fugue state

I’m glad people are recording these violent assaults. It didn’t need to be this way. This is what MAGA voters, third party voters, and non-voters supported.
It's actually a credit to the strength of our civil society that we're not treating ICE officers the way they're asking to be treated on sight.
ICE grabs father by the neck—send him into violent seizure while his arms lock up around his toddler.

"He's having seizure and they're trying to rip the baby out of his hands!"

Agents then handcuff him—before putting in ambulance with his child.

Mother is detained by agents as target of arrest.

I’d say, take a look at the sandwich trial today. If the guy had been Black, what do you think the outcome of that trial would have been? Hell, do you even believe he’d have made it alive to trial?
An imperfect democracy with functioning courts and multiple layers of elected bodies is not the same thing as "not a democracy."
If you study Black history, you know this country only became a “democracy” with the VRA in 1965, making me among the first gen of Black folx born with the right to vote. But tests, suppression, poll purging, gerrymandering, and more kept many ancestors from voting and prevent many 2day.

You know, for a site that throws around the word privilege a lot, this is a ginormous, Everest-sized expression of privilege. Americans who say "You elites have democracy, not us," should have to go live in an actual authoritarian state for, say, just 20 minutes or so
And many of us would argue we’ve never had a functioning democracy except for the elite few.

Seeing the news today. AI is going about as well as expected. When exactly can we pull the plug on this disastrous tech? Now would be good.
Which will decimate the planet. But we’ll have AI to therapize us to suicide. The future looks great.

Non-Black people, especially white people: it’s time to retire the use of “the Blacks”. That’s a racist way to discuss Black people.

Other ways of saying it:
Black people
Black folx
The Black electorate
Black voters
Black heroes
Black veterans
Black humans
Black blokes
Black chaps
Black mortals

When I say the GOP is trying to ethnically cleanse so many of us, this is one example.

JFC. Repro health should be between a womxn and their doctors and anyone the womxn they themselves choose, not politicians (mostly men who couldn’t find a clitoris if is smacked them in the face).
Pregnancy became far more dangerous in Texas after the state banned abortion, according to our analysis, which found the sepsis rate for women hospitalized as they miscarried in the 2nd trimester shot up by more than 50%.

ProPublica’s first-of-its-kind analysis is the most detailed look yet into a rise in life-threatening complications for women experiencing pregnancy loss under Texas’ abortion ban.

I feel like I should feel sad that his criminal syndicate keeps weekend at Bernie’s-ing him. Pretty sure he had a stroke in Sept. and it’s clear he has dementia (at least from my experience loving people with that disease). But I don’t. I wish him the most uncomfortable process of aging and death.
Trump just announced that South Africa is communist and that Miami is full of South Africans. Trump is maybe two weeks from taking his pants off on stage.

This is good. AND let us remember that enslavers we’re in Congress through ~1915, segregationists through the ~1990s, the descendants of both are still in Congress, the KKK ran and got elected to office at state and national levels through - idk when, has that stopped or just changed masks?

Made it to the polls almost by the skin of my teeth. My kid picked me up from the train station and we went right to the polls. I brought my emergency pocket Obama with us. The family that votes together…not sure how to finish that, but basically we’re some cool kids getting our vote on.

This white on white violence is getting out of hand. Idk even know who to root for.

Jk. I’m rooting for the complete and utter demise of both hate groups. Let’s see how it goes.
Ben Shapiro was just ratioed by Nick Fuentes on X after Shapiro called out Tucker Carlson and Fuentes for their antisemitism.

The neo nazi right is fully taking over the republican party.

It’s really something to watch groups that earned their rights on the backs of ADOS freedom movements play purity politics, demanding their needs be met or they’ll work to tank any potential prez candidate who who doesn’t address their issue in full out the gate.

I’m going to say again - focus on corporations. Buy from locally owned small businesses. Buy from Black owned, Indigenous owned, woman owned, or LGBT owned businesses.

And we should be shifting our buying power to these small businesses every day besides this small window.

Idk about anyone else but I’m seeing this as a harbinger for things to come (besides the sheer disgusting grift and corruption of it all). This is more than unusual. I think it also tells us they know they are widely reviled. Is this their form of doomsday prepping? Planning civil war 2.0?
Stephen Miller, Marco Rubio and Kristi Noem represent “a growing list” of senior Trump-administration political appointees now living on military bases — “where they are shielded not just from potential violence but also from protest”

Wonder why

A good thread if you’re freaking out about “a possible 3rd term”. The 22A is sound, clear, and firm. There is no way around it. But please don’t take it from me, take it from an actual legal expert.
As a lawyer and democracy expert I cannot overstate how rock-solid the presidential term limit is. Thread.

JFC. I’d forgotten about LIHEAP. Idk why, I once needed all these services to survive.

Ethnic cleansing. I’m telling ya. In a year or two when we’re deep in it, remember I said it.

FUCK! These fucking monsters won’t be happy until we all die the most miserable deaths. And they’ll ensure we do.
Another big problem is that LIHEAP is being (paused? cut?) on November 1st too, so some people are gonna have to unexpectedly choose how to apportion their income between heat/electricity and food.

But, will Delta ask to speak with the manager?
You know it’s serious when corporates begin to complain.

I’m thinking with everything we’ve seen and experienced these last 10 months or so, it is safe to say our government is creating/has created the conditions for ethnic cleansing and genocide.

Instead they prefer to protect affluent pedophiles, insurrectionists, white terrorists, and criminals.
“There’s absolutely more need, but less food. It’s bad.”

The shutdown is pushing federal workers to food banks, just as SNAP is set to expire.

When people say white people could stop what’s happening right now any time, here’s one possibility. Cuz I’m sure when Walmart’s bottom line is hit, the Waltons will ask to speak with the manager.
"Walmart accounts for roughly a quarter (24%) of SNAP shoppers’ total spending...this would imply a loss of about $2 billion for Walmart if the benefits are withheld for the entire month of November." www.newsweek.com/walmart-set-...

The government has confirmed that the food assistance payments will stop on November 1 as a result of the ongoing shutdown.

Ferdinand’s hot fudge sundae for Monday brunch. When in Pullman, one must swing by the WSU campus and get the best ice cream in the universe.

Gotta say of all the hypocrisy of the racist lying GOP, bodily autonomy is one that really pisses me off. Like, it’s not hard to mind your own biz. People with small lives have too much time of their hands to concern themselves with what others are doing. The tiny little meaningless lives.
Your neighbor’s contraception? Not your business.

Your coworker’s pregnancy? Not your business.

A stranger’s abortion? Definitely not your business.

Everyone deserves the right to make their own decisions about their body, health, and future without judgment.
