Blackity Black Black, if you don’t like that, you’re whackity whack whack

*scholar * voracious reader * racial justice and healing * educator * critically literate * funniest person ever * mom * and I’ve probably been there/done that *
Stand with workers. You can forgo your overpriced cup of shit coffee for a while, probably forever. There are better local coffee shops to frequent or learn to make your own favorite caffeinated beverage at home.

Well don’t know how sexy it is after about 20 hours of travel to make sure I made it home in time to cast my ballot. My kid picked me up from the train station and we went and voted immediately. No lines and streamed right through.

Made it to the polls almost by the skin of my teeth. My kid picked me up from the train station and we went right to the polls. I brought my emergency pocket Obama with us. The family that votes together…not sure how to finish that, but basically we’re some cool kids getting our vote on.

Ferdinand’s hot fudge sundae for Monday brunch. When in Pullman, one must swing by the WSU campus and get the best ice cream in the universe.

And GO COUGS! 🐾

Omg! The egret came back to our little pond! I’m so excited. And the heron was there too. He stalked the egret for a quick minute, then they both went to their sides of the pond. Gorgeous birds.

Oh my goodness. What a cutie. You might have gotten me into noticing birds in my own community. This summer, my granddog and I have seen ducks, geese, egrets, and herons. Got some nice phone pics of them. Fell in love the heron, who’s been around a lot. Thanks for piquing my interest!

Rarely do you see someone so loudly and proudly wearing their hatred for all to plainly see. This person lives in our apartment complex. If you guessed the driver is an older (middle aged) white man, you’d be correct.

I was wondering what kind of bird this was when I first saw them in the pond. After making sure about the blue heron, I saw there was a white heron. Now, I think this is who I saw.

We have a blue heron in the pond, hanging with the ducks. They’re majestic! 😍

I take my afternoon snuggle time with my granddood very seriously.

Hello friends!

My dear friend and Ghanain sister is offering some Twi, Mfantse, and/or Ga Dangbe languages.

So, if you’ve thought about learning to speak an African language, this is for you.

Has anyone besides myself realized that white Jesus looks a lot like a young Kenny Loggins?

Love love love my home state. And when the mountains are out, it is truly a spectacular sight. Gotta see the Olympics and Mt. Rainier, Adams, St. Helen’s, and Hood clearly today. What a glorious flight.

This photo is from the 1940s-ish in Gig Harbor. That’s my great grandpa and my grand uncle out ice skating in the harbor. While it is unusual for Western WA to get snow, it’s not unusual. Eastern WA though, can get a LOT of snow. We had 3 winters where we got 100 inches of snow in 6 weeks time.

My granddood, Slater had a bath yesterday. He had a full day of self-care (or rather grandma torture). But he’s so fresh and so clean (sang in my best OutKast voice). That face. He knows grandma will give him whatever he wants. More treats? Absolutely! New stuffy? I’m on it! Snuggles? I got you!

📚 I love to do a yearly wrap up of my reading for the year. In 2024, I again challenged myself to read 100 books. I read 190 book as of about an hour ago to end my year. So many worthy reads and I’ll do a little write up of the ones that were most important to me later. 📚

Making memories with my dad. Did a little Christmas shopping today and made him sit with Santa with me.

Had the most special night last night. I got my dad and I tickets to the Washington Ballet’s Nutcracker. One day I’ll tell the story of my dad and I meeting when I was 51. Nothing untoward, no scrub shit. It’s been a magical joyride getting to know him and spending time with him. Ima lucky woman.

Just want to remind folx who might be idolizing the Greatest Generation. Yes. They fought fascism. Were they Antifa? No. I don’t think the majority of the white people were. And certainly some were deeply impacted from what they saw from the genocidal depravity of the Nazis.

55 years ago today, Chairman Fred Hampton and Defense Captain Mark Clark were assassinated by the city of Chicago with the full support of the United States government while they slept. Never forget how they come for us, like cowards in the night. Fred Hampton had just turned 21.

🧵I don’t want to be alarmist but someone pointed something out to me today that I think needs more thought and consideration. And my thinking about the thing I’ll post in the next few threaded posts, begins with this fact that Robert Reich mentions - the bloated rotting pile of human excrement …

Right now, I’m reading this. It’ll be my 153rd or 4th book for this year. Keeping track on StoryGraph, a Black woman owned app that is so much better constructed than Amazon’s Goodreads.
