Disgusting. You engaged in political gamesmanship using them as pawns knowing they would get harmed and now you question *their* patriotism because some of them aren't wealthy like you and didn't want to work a high stress job for no pay?

"If streateries are a pandemic relic, then they’re a monument to a moment when we correctly ordered our local politics around building community and creating a built environment that fosters maximum public benefit.

Our latest opinion piece:
Opinion: D.C.'s new streatery rules are a costly miscalculation
The city's streatery guidelines are punishing small businesses and vibrant neighborhoods. We need a permanent solution to keep these staples of the city’s dining scene.

I wrote a piece for @deepcutnews about how the media sees some genocides as more important than others

The Age called out the Myanmar genocide. Why not Gaza's?
The paper's treatment of the Palestinians reeks of double standards.

Google symptom searches mapped over COVID waves 👀
5- When combined and looking at the correlation between all of these and past waves, it looks like COVID is still quite active in the US in spite of what we are led to believe.

And this is exactly what I was saying about Mamdani. Yes, he emphasized policy, but there was also this overarching vision. And the two go hand in hand, perfectly compatible, with one tracing the outlines of the other.
Watching Mamdani's victory speech, I'm struck by his—and his campaign's—unabashed vision of the US as an immigrant society, a culture built from the ground up from diversity. It is a complete rejection and reversal of the search for a white-washed homogeneity that the political right projects.

Apart from @bylinetimes.bsky.social and assoc publications Journalists have become extinct at BBC, SKY, ITV,Telegraph, Times etc etc

They’re pumped up PR artists for the right masquerading as journalists, with pretences of intellectual excellence to try & add weight to their lightweight “reports”
Once again, this isn’t journalism. It’s stroking the ego of a politician who’s done great national harm.
WhyTF should we take Farage seriously? Just because he wants power? Even more reason for ruthless scrutiny.
His track record is racist and ruinous. Any serious journalist would say so.

The next 12 months will be the most consequential for American politics since the 1850s. I don't say that glibly. We warned what would happen and they've done it and more. It appears we still have free elections, and so now they will now throw everything they have at us, a fascist kitchen sink.

You will never, ever satisfy the centre-right. There isn't any actual, material, clearly-defined goal they're seeking.

Their goal is to send everything onto the far-right travelator. Their dissatisfaction must by definition be permanent
This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.
