Weak men inexicably promoted to the top of politics not because of drive or aspiration but through militant compliance. I do not understand who promoted these people, why they are in politics, and why they remain there if they are unwilling to use the power they have accumulated
We have to get rid of Jeffries and Schumer. We have to. It’s unendurable that these men are the most prominent Democrats of the moment. They are two of the most broadly undistinguished men I could imagine in politics, zero fire, zero fight, zero zeal, machine politicians with sinecures.

I'm sure he's happy to distract from the epstein stuff but it isn't his primary motivation, which is to consolidate power and bend every resistant institution to his will. I don't think he even cares what anyone in his admin does as long as they are ultimately deferential to him.
