An entire lineage of influenza B viruses literally went extinct due to COVID mitigation measures and people will still say “masks don’t work”
I don't know if regular people will ever realize how insane it was that we literally did not have a flu or RSV season in January 2021.

I'm always so worried about if I'm qualified or smart enough to offer help. If I can do just the bare minimum of worrying about others then maybe that's enough justification to take action

wapo.st/3ZXDbks When they banned reproductive healthcare to women, pretending it was to protect fetuses, what did they think would happen to desperate, impoverished, unwell, ignorant people? Be forewarned, I had to stop reading b/c it was upsetting. (This is a gift article, no fire wall)
‘Baby in a dumpster.’ A spate of abandoned newborns unsettles Texas.
Critics say these cases are no coincidence in a state with one of the nation’s most restrictive abortion bans and near-bottom rankings on women’s health care.

I am a pediatrician. I served as one of the medical directors for this camp.

I LOVE that HIV in kids is rare. But that does not make this a feel good story.

This camp had started weeks dedicated to LGBTQ kids. These were LIFE SAVING sessions.

Camp is closing because of $. It’s a huge loss.
That is NOT why this camp is closing. Please stop spreading this ridiculous story.

HIV in youth is low, which IS great. But there was 1 week per year for housing insecure kids and 4 weeks per year for LGBTQ kids.

There just isn’t enough $ to support a camp that mostly served queer kids.
After nearly three decades, a Minnesota summer camp for kids with HIV/AIDS is closing and up for sale... because retroviral drugs are so effective that there aren't enough campers.

Science works, y'all.

One of the hardest skills to develop in medicine—one that simply cannot be learned from books and must be taught and encouraged by example—is the ability to take a step back and say “Wait a minute, that doesn’t make any god damn sense.”

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

The US government literally tried to do this 100 years ago (look up “The Narcotics Farm”) and it didn’t work and leads to worse outcomes (more deaths, more drug use) than doing nothing at all…
Well, this is horrifying.

"I’m going to create these wellness farms where they can go to get off of illegal drugs, off of opiates, but also illegal drugs, other psychiatric drugs, if they want to, to get off of SSRIs, to get off of benzos, to get off of Adderall..." -- RFK Jr, FOUR MONTHS AGO.

Ugh. I am so glad people see how ridiculous this is! Not only is this all based on unsubstantiated rumors from one person (be better, journalists) but fentanyl is not a real weapon. Iran has real weapons.

If fentanyl could actually be weaponized don’t you think the United States would have used it?
