I have also created a season preview.
I wasn’t allowed to “roam freely” in the 90s, in that I had to tell my parents where I was going and who I was going to be with and when I was going to be home, but it is true that I could, say, go to a park with my friends without adult supervision.
Absolute truth. We’d drop our books and disappear into the cornfield, or the pine forest, or the hardwood jungle in the creek bottom. Total HUCK FINN wild roaming savages.

It. Was. Wonderful.

US is doing a great job of gapping up at the blue line and ending anything that looks like it might be a rush chance.

I love when sports are also a metaphor for geopolitics.

There are some really weird results in this survey. The same % of people use Google to search for health info as use ChatGPT? That can't possible be right. And 68% of Millennials say they use Facebook *daily*? Also hard to believe. digitallibrary.cma.ca/link/digital...

For who knows what reason I had a look at the Goodreads reviews of The Idiot by Dostoevsky, & all the top-rated reviews are like "I like his writing style but I don't understand why he made an idiot the main character." The main character isn't an idiot! The title is ironic! That is the whole point!

always so funny to me when people are like “how am I supposed to explain Gay to my kids?” my kid asks me way harder shit all the time. “why did they build the road this way? why are some people bad?” I don’t know. please ask me about Gay

Refused. "New Noise". (1998)
Kid Rock is 55 years old. Last night he was wearing jorts, lip-synching to a song he wrote when he was 20, 35 years ago.

America 2026 is discovering levels of divorced-dad energy that defy scientists' attempts at description. We need new instruments, a new vocabulary.

Wow, I have been doing some research, and it turns out that Polymarket is *not* a dating app for people in open relationships.

I don't have a specific theory that I can articulate, but I read things like this, & I get the impression there are a lot of people who think there is an optimal end-point of being a human that they're trying to reach. And in particular, they want to reach that end-point without putting in any work.

Saw an Olympic athlete post an AI-generated image of themself doing their sport at the Olympics. You are an elite athlete who is for real in the Olympics! That is already as cool as it gets! Why would you post a computer-generated image of a thing you do for real?!

First of all, the way this man has been treated is horrendous regardless of his immigration status. But the article is missing a pretty critical detail, which is that the judge says he entered the US in 2009 as a tourist and does not have legal status in the country.

Always surprising to me when someone's like "I don't have any hobbies." Can not relate to anyone who is not constantly adding new hobbies they don't have enough time to do.

So wonderful to see the raw emotion from Valerie Maltais as she receives her bronze medal.

At her fifth Olympics, 16 years after her debut, she wins her first individual medal.

What a moment for her.

I’m glad bi athletes have Olympic representation in shooting and skiing, but I don’t think they should restrict sports by sexual orientation.

A weird thing to think about is that in 1999 the names of specific computer processors were well-known enough that Weird Al was able to release a single that parodied them.
