I started this post because I reposted something by Paul Sinha saying you can’t get spotted in Edinburgh now unless you’re loaded or your parents are. Comedy used to be a great way for people with no connections to start. It isn’t now.

I know people have been a bit Leave! Nepo Babies! Alone! lately but god I’ve just read the cast list of the new Inspector Lynley series. Sorry working class actors. There’s always am-dram every Thursday at the community centre.

NEW YEAR! NEW COURSE!

I'm doing a new short podcasting course, because people have asked. Fundamental stuff, avoiding the inevitable pitfalls of Bad Podcasting, from a decade of hard-won experience.

So, this country with a despotic head of state that has no freedom of speech and abuses its citizens with the police, remind me again which country that was?

I just introduced my 29 year-old nephew to a sublime Debussy piano piece, from the Images. He said it sounded like it was from Zelda, "when she's in the forest" and you know, people are funny aren't they.

Sorry, 'Twitter'? God where have you been? It's called 'NUC' now. Why? Because 'Nazis Undressing Children' is just too long-winded.

Knowing the sort of person I am I may wake up tomorrow with renewed zeal to crack on but for now I am going to have a breather and maybe think of ways to improve.
The Patreon Film Club will continue BTW.
Thanks for all your support and faith in the show. I couldn't do this without you.

Friends,
Just wanted to let you know where things are with the podcast. I'm having a break for a while... I was planning on ploughing on into 2026 but the last month or so has left me feeling underwhelmed and lacking the oomph to carry on.

First time I've seen the "whole interview" just run out - in the ep it cuts back and forth with Ollie and co in the flat.

Excellent point here about Brian and Roger.
I honestly feel that selected episodes of this should be used as a tool in therapy for people who are too easily railroaded into doing things they don't want to.

I wondered if it was true that Trump has bombed 7 different countries in a year so I looked it up, it is. And he calls himself the "peace president". 😡 Why won't anyone stop him? Surely there's a way.

For what it’s worth one of my favourite how to write books is Release The Bats by DBC Pierre. What Pierre realised that ironically many creative writing books forget is make your creative writing book readable.
