Didn't plan it, but 1st yr as an all-girl lab. Congrats to our intern Valentina Rodriguez Cortes (High Distinction) & our honours student Anastasia Karafotias (1st Class Honours). Good luck to both for their futures! A challenging but a good yr as we've researched #ovariancancer & #endometriosis. 🧪

In Australia we are on the way to eradicating cervical cancer in young women. Grateful that this is one fear my vaccinated daughter & her girlfriends will not have to experience in their lifetime. Thank you science. 🙏 🧪 #CervicalCancer #VaccinesWork #HPV www.medscape.com/viewarticle/...

University reputations and finances often hinge on their position in global ranking tables that prioritize narrow aspects of academic life. Elizabeth Gadd writes about three changes that would give institutions the freedom to explore fresh ways of working. #Academicsky 🧪

Combining #CSIRO job cuts with job losses that have already happened & are happening now at Australian universities, there is a huge problem in our country keeping scientific research afloat, let alone thriving. We needed political action years ago but the next best time is right now. #STEM
That's more than 1,100 jobs lost at the CSIRO over the last two years.

"Combined, the staff association estimates that equates to cutting the agency’s size by a third."

This is more cuts to the CSIRO than was attempted by the Abbott government.

CSIRO to slash hundreds of jobs in cost-saving drive

Important in politics to have competitive oppositions to help to avoid the risk of complacency for those in power. Still so much for labour to achieve, including ‘fixing’ higher education. Suspect that Liberals are way off the pulse of most Australians on this one. #netzero
