No, I actually do just want to straight up abolish the police entirely.
Leftists often have nuanced, reasonable positions that aren't far from mainstream liberals but they deliberately say them in the most edgy, alienating way for a superficially radical aesthetic.

Were ICE a fascist paramilitary in 2024? Were they masked and armed and teargassing or shooting people dead? We're they illegally picking people off the streets and sending them to third countries? Were they using children as bait, or using hospital records to target people?
I'm blocking a lot of people who think it's possible to earnestly oppose a fascist paramilitary at the same time as writing them a cheque for 8 billion dollars, an opinion that is not only very stupid but also impossible to stand by without significant evil infesting every ounce of your heart.

The "echo chambers" narrative completely misses how this works. It isn't some collective closed-mindedness of opinion that eliminates heterodoxy, but rather that entirely different facts are given to different groups of people. Heterodoxy would at least sort of require us to share the same reality.
It's really important people understand that half of the country lives on a different planet. Highlighted is a real article that ran in November, a full 16 months after the event. The article was served to my bot and saved in a dataset I try not to look at because, well, it looks like this.

"Purity tests among the non-republicans aren't constructive" is a stupid thing to say. Purity tests are good, actually, because the purpose of them is to ensure whatever is being tested isn't dangerously contaminated. What good is a Democrat who votes like a Republican 9/10 times?

So currently Lauren Boeberts district is going to be holding an open carry anti-ICE protest and the gun spaces I keep eyes and ears in are giving me the feeling if Dems wanted to they could cleave off the 2A single-issue voters if they dropped gun control pretty easily.
