#TombTuesday 12 seconds of bright winter sun & a cold east wind across the ancient burial mound of Bryn Cader Faner in the Eryri/Snowdonia uplands

Quite a place to have been buried or scattered 4500 years ago 😮

It’s so typical but also so weird when someone winds up hating us instead of hating them because their attempt to pass failed.

Making maximalist demands while the party on your side - while it can use political leverage now to try and get *some* concessions - controls none of the levers of power is just an insane theory of politics.

I know that the popular reference is "Her job was to kill the program" and there's likely some truth in it; but the bigger truism generally is that thus far the Ellisons are actually REALLY BAD at just "running a media company," too.

Bluesky idea: if people just coming to realize that facism is bad because it hurts them are upset that people who understood the threat (& were treated like a bunch of hysterical Cassandras for years because of it), maybe they should learn to sit with their fucking discomfort.
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

Wow: A top GOP candidate for governor in Minnesota just announced that he is dropping out from the race. *And* that he is leaving the Republican Party.

He blamed the GOP's "stated retribution on the citizens of our state."

Chris Madel ends GOP bid for governor, says he can’t support federal ‘retribution’ against Minnesota
His exit comes as some other Republicans have started to distance themselves from the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in the state.

It drives me crazy because these reactionary fuckers are dismantling the republic because Obama era liberalism’s habit of throwing its cultural/demographic/economic weight around scared the shit out of them and instead of doubling down on that people want to go all in on the shit that killed the UK

Because we're all trapped in the event horizon of the 2016 primary we have to pretend that "universal healthcare", something that every Democratic administration has worked to expand since Truman, is something that "liberalism" has fought against, instead of a bog-standard part of the platform.

It’s maybe just me but I think the second most horrifying thing about what’s happening in Sudan is the way Gen prev orgs have to keep restarting the clock to keep the death toll there comprehensible.
