There are many places to get news beyond CBS. But the undermining of outlets with really strong journalism infrastructures is a real loss for the public. You can't stand up a new 60 Minutes tomorrow. Same for the Washington Post foreign desk (if it get cuts as rumored.)

New from 404 Media: DHS says critical ICE surveillance footage from abuse case was actually never recorded and doesn't matter. "Due to a technical issue, the Video System failed to record video or audio footage during that period."

How much easier would life be if our species were just a little bit smarter and kinder?

Just breaks your heart how much better we could be.

Today I'm reminded once again that corporate landlords are the anti-christ.

Seriously, I cannot explain one more fucking time that I'm severely disabled w/ #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis and have had cancer for nine goddamned years and, as such, cannot do always do what an able-bodied person can do.

More of this, please.

Also? Impeaching Kristi Noem is just Step 1.
Jeffries: Federal taxpayer dollars should actually be used to make life better for the American people, not kill them. Our position is clear: Kristi Noem needs to be fired immediately, or House Democrats will begin the initiation of impeachment proceedings against her.

Outstanding piece. Thanks for the gift article.

"No application of armed violence can make the men with guns as heroic as the people who choose to stand in their path with empty hands in defense of their neighbors."
GIFT ARTICLE (no paywall). Masterpiece reporting here from Adam. He deserves awards for this.

If you know any academic teaching about whiteness and white supremacy this semester, make damn sure you take the time to buy them a drink, to check in on them, to make sure they're okay.

We're gonna need it.

ICE really came into Minnesota expecting us to quickly say goodbye to our neighbors.

Clearly they did not realize Minnesotans are physically incapable of that.

I keep thinking about the Rwandan Forgiveness Commission.

Over the course of Summer 1994, Hutus slaughtered one million of their Tutsi neighbors.

We're nowhere near that far gone.

Yet they eventually found a way to live w/ one another again.

And I wonder how we'll ever get there.

I want to go back to Marimar Martinez' request to lift protective order in her case. She was shot by CBP in October. As w/Good & Pretti, they lied to cover up shooting.

As a threshold issue, Bovino was just 1-degree of separation from all 3 shootings.
