I was once on a memorable panel about surviving the apocalypse and someone asked what the most important factor was. Other panelists talked about attitude and preparation. I said “Having a standard shoe size.”

Virtually none on : practicing good first aid skills, basic cookery, navigation, physical fitness and mental wellbeing.
And I'm yet to see anyone make this point: do you have comfortable shoes and socks to hand if SHTF?
