On the Labour side, there’s a lot of “the public are not able to face up to Hard Choices” - you never gave them the chance to! You instead presented a manifesto that was either an act of self-deception or just of regular deception!

Job of a lawyer is to tell you what the risks of various options are.

It's up to you to decide how much risk you're willing to take on
The job of a lawyer is generally to tell you what the safest option is, and that’s not always the best option.
In case you missed it, Senator Slotkin makes a great point here about how lawyers have advised her to lay low and not make any waves with Trump. And instead, she has done the exact opposite by standing up to him. This is the way. open.substack.com/pub/jimacost...

The Labour legal team are certainly using the ULS provisions better than their predecessors.
Another example of Labour's Solicitor General intervening to force a sentence review resulting in a sexual predator’s sentence being extended for being initially unduly lenient

Decided to have a little flick through the Epstein files. I noticed that a lot of the art work is redacted. Then I found this photo. Can't help wondering if they had some AI redact every female face and didn't bother checking if it got things right or not.

The Chagossians are reported to have offered to name "Eagle" Island in the Archipelago after Trump. Amuses me because in a satirical piece I wrote a year ago I portrayed Trump as thinking about renaming Diego Garcia as Trump Island.

In hindsight, that seems quite an insightful move on their part. Send one dodgy potential criminal as ambassador to another dodgy criminal. Birds of a feather and all that.
The difficulty for Starmer, McSweeney and co re the "discovery" of Mandelson's bad character is that they appointed him as ambassador to Trump in the belief that his bad character would be an asset

I've seen a dozen hot takes on today's breaking news about Mandelson demanding to know why Starmer appointed him ambassador to the USA if he now wants him stripped of his peerage. Surely, the answer is obvious: it's breaking news today & I doubt Mandy told KS that he was leaking docs etc 20 yrs ago.
