The idea that individuals are going to be able to "negotiate" better rates with health insurers than the US government can is pants-on-head level absurd on its face

Some abled parents of disabled people are the most violent ableists. They use their children as tools to demonstrate their heroism in shouldering the burden of taking care of a disabled person, think they’re incapable of ableism, and say the experience of a caretaker is the same as being disabled.

I hope that any parents of disabled children out there reading this will see that this pattern exists in your community and take great care not to fall into these traps. In the end the only person who can truly speak about life with disability is *a disabled person*.
